Hi, friend.

Good morning!

This is the calm before the nor’easter. Going to be wild here tomorrow!

Here are your 2 minutes of peace & calm.

Sorry folks for no #OceanDevotion today.

Book deadline for @weboflifebooks.bsky.social
… but I just poured myself a glass of bubbly. 🥂

That means it’s done! 20 months of research, design, and painstaking illustration. (Looking forward to my 1st day off in a long time tomorrow!)

Sea surface temperatures across the northern Atlantic were still warmer than any years since the mid-1800s in December, but they remain well below their recent peak... a good reminder of both climate change and variability.

Good frigid morning! And thanks to the folks who have generously bought me a nice hot Ko-fi!

Another pretty sunrise today. Here are your 3 minutes of peace & calm.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Good morning! It’s -10°C/14°F with a windchill of -22°C/-7.6°, but it was worth it!

Very beautiful this morning. Here are your 3 minutes of peace, calm, roaring waves, and blowing snow.

Well, finally got to the beach. It is RIPPING out here on Outer Cape Cod.

Must watch until the end 😂

No #OceanDevotion this morning—I’m completely trapped. That’s my mailbox on the right. 😂

Hope my US friends got through the storm safely.

I will try to walk down to the beach later.
January 26, 2026 at 4:15 PM
Managed to get a hike in before the storm gets going. There are definitely some perks to living in a National Park!

(A rare selfie. Wearing the hideous hat because hunters don’t always follow the rules around here... 😞)

Ok, good morning!

My tripod snapped yesterday so forgive my glove intruding on this #OceanDevotion. After all it is 19°F/-8°C.

No doubt I’ll be sharing snow videos today, so if you want to experience the storm like an Outer Cape Cod-er, you can.
January 25, 2026 at 12:38 PM
On the bright side, I’ll be able to get to the beach for an #OceanDevotion before it gets here.

Stay safe, American friends. (And not just during the storm.)

I am a climate scientist and this is correct.

As the planet warms, storms like the one today are getting stronger… and as the Arctic is warming twice as fast as the mid latitudes, it increases the risk of the “freezer door” swinging open.

Ok, I figure I’m not the only one who needs this #OceanDevotion.

Very cold. But beautiful.

I’ll aim to go out tomorrow morning before the storm arrives. 🤞

I try to keep my feed a place that you can visit to chill out and escape it all for a few minutes.

But
ICE is now responsible for 66% of the homicides in Minneapolis this year.

Good morning! A very quick one this morning because it’s -12°C/10°F with a windchill of -23°C/-10°F. (My tripod snapped as I was setting up, so it’s a bit wobbly with my freezing hands.)

Last #OceanDevotion before Winter Storm Fern arrives!
