The biggest criticism associate and budding associate nations get is that they are made up of immigrants, not natives. We are no different. However, we train Icelandic school children and aim to develop cricket as a major sport here. This takes maybe ten years to bear fruit.

We are commencing winter indoor cricket training for youths on Saturday 11th October from 09:00-11:00. All children aged from 7-15 are welcome. The location is Fellaskóli, 111 Reykjavík and the first session is free. Sessions will run each Saturday until May. All cricket equipment is provided.

Our critics often contend that very few of our fans originate from Iceland. We did some investigations and we can sadly report it turns out they are right! In fact, in 2024, close to 95% of our electric fans were imported from just 3 nations: Germany, China, & Lithuania.

The best thing about 2025 has been the rise of new nations. Nepal's recent triumph over the West Indies is no fluke. Even Italy are now competitive and highlight the emerging strength in depth of associate nations. It gives everyone hope, unless you are a WI supporter.
