Greetings to friends new and old.

By weekday I'm a cybersecurity and privacy practitioner. It pays the bills.

By weekend I am photographer that concentrates on things with wings, trains, and lighthouses. It feeds my soul.

"In the blind"... Your own? On public land?
With 4 days of shooting and 12,000 images to choose from and maybe some attention deficit issues, I've bounced between shoots. This one is back at La Lomita.

Staying at Transition Ranch for tonight's image. This species used to be a Western Scrub Jay until the species was split from the California Scrub Jay in 2016

As common of a bird as I think exists in most of the US, but when captured well I think is still a very worthy photo subject. At Transition Ranch

From mostly absence of color, but very pretty blue mascara yesterday to an in-your-face splash of yellow, south Texas birds never fail to impress. From La Lomita again

After a busy week, I got out and shot some today. Pictures to come soon. Instead continuing my shots from south Texas with this common but pretty dove.

Closed out a busy and stressful week fairly early yesterday afternoon. Processing images this morning and chilling out. Will be in the field tomorrow.

Busy and stressful day as expected. Dropping an image here before it starts all over again tomorrow. Another from El Potrero Nature Photography Ranch.

Been busy. Wish it was photography. Tomorrow will be a uniquely big and stressful day, but today I share images. Back at the Rocking R6 near Laredo for this one.

Forgot the scientific name... Zenaida macroura
I've been bouncing around between the four days of shooting I had at the beginning of this month. Today we're back near Laredo with a common dove that I have very few portfolio images of.

I have more Northern Cardinal images in my portfolio than any other bird by a large margin. So photogenic.

Keeping the gray but adding some solid red, this Desert Cardinal is always a treat to see and make images of. Seen this year at La Lomita Photography Ranch

This bird is always a challenge with exposure because of the mix of black and white. But a fun species to work with and generally very patient.

Not quite as much color on this shot, but some subtle colors that are common to sparrows. Yet another from the Transition Ranch near Brackettville, Texas.

For this shot it was a Canon 5D Mark IV and a rented 600mm f/4 IS L.
From the grayest of grays to a definite splash of color. Only 2 oriole species this year. Transition Ranch was a great place to shoot. It has been far too long.

I have a White-winged or two (or many) that I will post in coming days and weeks.
Common Ground-Doves may also be possible in Austin. They are in Bexar & Guadalupe Counties. As to the White-tipped--the photographer that guides on El Potrero calls them Dove-zilla based on their size. They are noticeably bigger than White-winged doves and the eye ring is distinctively different.
Many count milestones by numbers ending in zeros (100, 1000, etc). At heart I'm a computer guy. The smartest computer still, at its heart, only understands binary--1 or 0, on or off. So reaching 256 followers (100000000 in base 2) is a neat accomplishment. Thanks for joining me on this journey.
Back to birds tonight with a south Texas specialty and the first of the dove species I've processed from our trip.

This was my first encounter with a coyote within reach of my camera. This one had an injury to one of his ears, apparently the result of an unfortunate interaction with a human.

One more image before I call it a weekend. This was a might handsome Northern Mockingbird. This background was as I captured it--no Lightroom or AI tricks here.
