Today is Election Day in the United States, a significant day in some local and state elections. It allows citizens to participate in the democratic process by voting for their chosen candidates and influencing the direction of their communities and regions.

Today marks Culture Day in Japan. The national holiday serves to promote and appreciate traditional Japanese arts, culture, and academic achievement. It honors Japan's rich heritage through exhibitions, ceremonies, and cultural activities.
El Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Mexican tradition honoring deceased loved ones. Families create ofrendas (altars) with offerings like sugar skulls and marigolds to welcome spirits, symbolizing a fusion of indigenous and religious beliefs.

Today is National Immigrants Day, recognizing the contributions of foreign-born people. As of June 2025, 51.9 million immigrants lived in the U.S., that is 15.4% of all residents.
We’re thrilled to have been awarded two fellows from the UB School of Management, through the Jordan A. Daniels Non-Profit Board Fellowship program.

Emily, a student in the Master of Social Work program, and MBA student Ayan will be working with the International Institute of Buffalo through April.

Today is Evacuation Day in Tunisia, marking the retreat of the last French soldiers from the city of Bizerte. France began its occupation of Tunisia in 1881, though by 1956, it controlled only Bizerte. Tunisian forces eventually blockaded the city, forcing France to withdraw entirely in 1963.
