Sherelle’s 6Music show last week was a celebration of the influence of the Windrush generation… And it was just banger after banger from my (musical) youth. Althea & Donna, Janet Kay, Desmond Dekker, Musical Youth, John Holt, Bob & Marcia… just music I intrinsically link with growing up

I grew up as a white kid in South Wales in the 70s & 80s… on one hand, it’s a bit odd that I ended up being completely obsessed with reggae/dub/ska… on the other hand, you see old clips like this and it makes perfect sense…

I don’t want to be too shrill about this but I think the BBC, ITV and Sky have disgraced themselves in their coverage of the anti-refugee protests. A massive failure of judgement. But now we know the next time a progressive protest “isn’t news” that it’s nothing to do with numbers
