At the best of times politics is more about feelings than policies.
Yes it's a problem that fascism means the republicans fabricate pretext for insurrection because they're lawless thugs.

But pretending the economy was fine was a mistake.

I was paying attention to Biden saying that it was OBJECTIVELY THE BEST ECONOMY EVER AFTER COVID (not his exact words) and THIS WAS NOT THE CORRECT THING TO SAY WHEN PEOPLE WERE OBJECTIVELY FEELING FINANCIAL DURESS.

I was playing attention to Biden boasting about how the infrastructure bill was good for the economy, an ARGUMENT which was LOGICALLY VALID and also BORING and therefore STUPID.

I was paying attention to Harris' campaign, and she did her best to bring economic policy promises, in an anemic democrat way. Same way she loosely tried to posture as willing to be tough on immigration.

and it's a failure of the democrats that their message didn't carry, and it's a failure that occurred because they thought objective facts about the economy and bills passed were a good electoral strategy.

bro it actually matters that Biden's America didn't make people feel financially secure, and Biden trumpeting how well the economy was doing made the Democrats seem like liars. Yes it's a problem that people "believe their own facts" but inflation really hurt and Dem messaging sucked.

I am only pointing to the difference between feelings and facts about the economy. No amount of objective facts about the economy matter and the delusion of Democrats is thinking that if they make factual arguments, somehow people will like them.

I know a lot of rank and file democrats who were perpetually confused that people could believe the economy wasn't doing well because FOR DEMOCRATS WITH GOOD JOBS, the economy feels fine.

Because the media couldn't accurately report on the Russian influence in our politics the boomer delusion that Trump could bring peace with Russia continued far past any reasonable intelligence. Boomer politics have been a massive intelligence failure.
