So, here it goes: three months from today my book "Diogenes: The Rebellious Life and Revolutionary Philosophy of the Original Cynic" will come out with Basic Books, my first general audience book in English!

My answer: practical shopping! (Groceries, cobbler, socks etc.) To describe my frustration with C’ville to people from elsewhere I’ll joke about how there’s dozens of restaurants but you can’t buy a pair of socks to save your life here…

My 2022 Dutch book about Diogenes was featured as recommended reading in a newspaper special about declutterring this weekend. Can’t say I saw that coming, but it checks out: no needs = no clutter.

I’m so so sorry. Hang in there! You probably know this already but @reichlinmelnick.bsky.social is a great source on all immigration matters.

I had some input in choosing the voice actor, and I was totally blown away by the over-all level – such a craft! And I am beyond thrilled with the outcome.

Dankjewel lieve Sake! Ik heb het boek zelf vertaald en er ook veel bijgeschreven (ongeveer +50%), dus het is echt een nieuwe versie.

And this is what the book will look like:

I could not be more excited. This is fair warning that between now and then I will probably be posting about the book a few more times.

My colleagues from Ancient History @unileiden.bsky.social and I spoke to podcast Oudheid about the antiquities collected by a delightfully odd baron @huisvanhetboek.bsky.social! Available here: tr.ee/g2U3R4bfvj
