Fun Fact, Fact Fans… INKY CONDITIONS was begun in 2017 - 30 years after this Blackbird was drawn in ink. Yep, that’s 1987. And there (second photo, you cheeky monkey) am I then. With a hat on.

Magpie Hat, monoprint, 1987. Holy heck, that’s almost 40 years ago.

It was drawn about some article I read - Boy Wears Tupperware Hat To Protect Himself From Magpie Attack.

I’m a good keeper and archivist of my work. It’s nice to think I’m carrying on what I started. The print has lasted well.

People used to - but please do not - smoke a ciggie
A sketchy naive monochrome ink drawing of one hand holding an open packet of cigarettes and the other hand moving in to take out a cigarette. The cut-out lettering caption says ‘Having a lovely ciggie, in the past.’ The drawing is signed ‘Inky Conditions’

This one creeps me out. I didn’t like it much when the friend appeared at the window. Maybe I’ll still be thinking of this when I’m trying to get to sleep tonight, I don’t know.

Still, here we go - My New Friend…
Black and white ink sketchy drawing of a room’s window with a spider-plant on the windowsill above a radiator. In the dark outside an intently staring face is close up to the window, looking in. The words with the drawing say ‘My New Friend Is At The Window.’

In Mrs Merton & Malcolm he was a pure delight. His character, Arthur, lives in my head. Or visits, at least.

This one is called An Open Sandwich of Upset and Snot, and was thought of as I lay unasleep in bed last night, this morning.

Friday night disco-dancing dangers. And don’t get me started on the accidental eye-contact.
