This is what AI did with this classic portrait of Harry Houdini.

30 years ago tonight, at about 11:30 p.m. Eastern Time, the Houdini Magical Hall of Fame in Niagara Falls, Canada, burned down. Officials suspected arson, but no one was arrested. Here are some news clippings from that time.
I know at least some of them are.
Age 17 or 18, which is approximately 243 years ago.

With one of Harry Houdini’s water torture cells at the Houdini Magical Hall of Fame in Niagara Falls, Canada. The cell was damaged in the museum’s fire in the ‘90s. However, illusion builder John Gaughan restored the cell, now in David Copperfield’s museum in Las Vegas. #houdini #harryhoudini

These imps by Mike Elizalde’s Spectral Motion are what you would expect from such a creative team. So cool. They’re among my favorite pieces in my small magic collection. For the uninitiated, imps are ancient, mischievous little demons that found their way into illusionists’ posters in the 1890s.
One of my favorite commentators.
Taking a break from politics to focus on things that don’t make me want to repeatedly bang my head on a table. Here’s a table activity I enjoy much more. I originally made this video in memory of magician James Randi, using a promo deck from the excellent documentary about him: An Honest Liar.
I’ve been following politics closely since 2015 and now plan on taking a break for maybe 1460 days?
A super-easy routine for my magic students decades after first playing with the trick as a kid: the ball and vase. My demo video for a version of the trick I sell on eBay. #magictrick
Met him at Comic-Con this year. Such a talented and awesome guy.
Not sure if you’ve met William Stout, but he’d make a wonderful guest. He’s a great conversationalist full of stories about his incredible life as an artist. And a super nice guy in general. I had the honor of meeting him and speaking with him at length at his Comic-Con booth this year.
Absolutely can’t wait for your book.
So glad to see you here.
I had been somewhat obsessively following politics and watching progressive commentators since around 2015 and the Bernie movement. Looking forward to watching more of your interviews in general. Great stuff.
A beautiful little Harry Houdini sculpture by Mike Elizalde and friends at Spectral Motion. Looks great in the Houdini section of my little magic library. #spectralmotion
A favorite Comic-Con 2024 memory meeting Bill Stout, who illustrated and inscribed my copy of Hiding the Elephant, by Jim Steinmeyer. Bill illustrated the magicians’ portraits in the book. #sdcc
Comic-Con rescheduled open registration for this Saturday, November 23. The waiting room opens at 7:30 a.m. PST. In that spirit, here’s a clip I took at SDCC in July. Good luck all! #sdcc

I love your interviews, especially with those I’ve formed parasocial relationships with. :) I’m a progressive magician in San Diego and, since the election, have decided to take a temp break from politics. If you ever do a panel at Comic-Con, I’d love to attend. Thanks for the great work you do.
