ICYMI: Republicans are displaying messages on government websites blaming the “Radical Left” for the government shutdown.

The reality is Republicans control the House, Senate, and the White House.

"Since our current income is near what is called the ‘ACA cliff,’ our taxes could increase over $15,000 per year.”

Countless Iowans could see their health insurance premiums increase by more than 50%. Our Republican reps need to end their vacation and work to extend ACA tax credits.

A statement from IDP Chair Rita Hart on D.C. Republicans’ government shutdown:
bottom of the graphic. At the center of the top line there’s light blue quotations. White text at the center reads, “Republicans own this shutdown. Feenstra, Hinson, Miller-Meeks, and Nunn all fled D.C. after refusing to negotiate with their colleagues and voting for a bad spending bill that includes the largest price hike of health insurance premiums in 15 years. Republicans are the party in power. It is their job to negotiate with the minority party in order to pass bipartisan legislation and keep the government open. Why aren't Iowa's representatives in D.C. working to fix this? And why aren't they standing up for Iowans?
 ––Rita Hart, IDP Chair".

“The farm economy is getting tougher by the hour. Some say a repeat of the ‘80s farm crisis. Others say worse.” –Sean Arians, National Corn Growers Association vice president of sustainable production.
White paper textured background with a screenshot of a headline from Farm Progress that reads, "The 4-alarm fire in farm country." Below, text from the article reads, "NCGA just released a survey of U.S. corn growers, and nearly half — 46% — believe the U.S. is on the brink of a farm crisis. More than 75% are very or moderately concerned about the farm economy, and 65% are more concerned about their financials than they were last year. In 2026:
-58% may postpone equipment purchases
-38% may reduce fertilizer application
-22% may look for off-farm income" At the bottom there's a black and white image of a farm."

When Republicans keep putting politics over our schools, it’s no surprise Iowa ranks 43rd for teachers.

Trump promised to lower prices.

Instead, from health care costs to the grocery store, Iowans are watching prices climb while Republicans side with special interests over working families.
Paper textured background with a screenshot of a headline from Axios that reads, "You're not crazy: Grocery prices are up in most categories." Below, there's a chart showing Food is up 3.2%. Food at home is up 2.7% Meats, poultry, fish, and eggs are up 5.6%. Fruits and vegetables are up 1.9%. Dairy and related products are up 1.3%. and cereals and bakery products are up 1.1%."

“We’ve had a very chaotic trade policy that has resulted in lower prices for what we grow and what we want to sell around the world. We’ve had cuts to important programs that farmers are utilizing that USDA has ended abruptly.” —Iowa Farmers Union President Aaron Lehman

ICYMI: Republicans in D.C. are pushing to end ACA subsidies. That means a huge hike in insurance premiums for Iowans.

Gutting Medicaid wasn’t enough for Iowa Republicans.

Tax credits made ACA plans affordable for middle-class families. They're set to expire at the end of the year."

Chuck Grassley on tariffs: “Why drive up the price of John Deere because of a tariff on something they need for the tractor that they can’t even get in the United States? It’s a stupid policy.”

And yet, every Iowa Republican in the House voted to protect tariffs.
