In this era of CFB, Iowa football truly is the best and most secure head coaching job in the country. Think about it - Kirk has averaged 7-5 record over his tenure, offensive ineptitude for many years, no outright conference championships, no CFP appearances, and a few national negative storylines.

Iowa State may play a weaker schedule than Iowa did in 2015 when they went 12-0. ISU is very likely to go 12-0 and into the Big 12 conference championship without playing a single ranked team at end of season.

Sure but has me worried he won’t make it through season now after “tweaking” knee. That almost always leads to a long term injury.

Maybe I’m being overly pessimistic but if Gronowski is out for foreseeable future then it’s going to be a struggle bus. This was the “easiest” ranked team Iowa was going to play at home and it took a lot to just put forth that. Sucks we are 5 games in and wind has been out of the sail already.

I agree with you but can we really feel like this season will be anything more than average? The CFP is out of the picture (never likely realistic) so how do we get excited for a potential 7-5 ceiling season? I’m just at the point where these types of seasons don’t excite me and already apathetic
