I am introducing the new dataset on Parliamentary Elites in Authoritarian Regimes (PEAR). It includes information on the composition of parliaments in 819 legislative terms in 130 autocracies from 1945 - based on over 200k individual-level observations.

In unseren Gesprächen diskutierte ich mit Claus Offe natürlich seine eigenen Überlegungen zu den genannten Transitionen im Post-Sovietischen Raum. Aber er zeigte auch großes Interesse an meiner eigenen Forschung zu Lernprozessen in Autoritären Regimen wärend Regimekrisen im sog. Arabischen Frühling.

Mit Claus Offe ist eine prägende Figur der deutschen Sozialwissenschaften von uns gegangen.

Ich erinnere mich noch gut an unsere Gespräche zu den Transformationen in Ost- und Mitteleuropa nach 1990 für die Veröffentlichung dieses Beitrags zu Offe’s Theorie des Dilemma der Gleichzeitigkeit.
