The TLDR here is:

Interact respectfully with minors, but you shouldn’t actively seeking out platonic relationships with them where it puts you and the minor in a dangerous position of blurring the lines of appropriateness.

Now if it’s a situation if someone who is under 20 interacting with someone 16-17, I believe that’s fine. I’m referring to if you are over the age of 20 and interacting with someone who is 3 or more years younger than you. That’s where you need to check yourself a bit.

Im not going to bash on folks, that is not my intention. But please, if you’re an adult who interacts with minors, do it with respect to the minors safety and also put your own boundaries forward.

I feel it’s genuinely not okay to treat minors the same way as you would treat your adult friends. Especially in terms of OC fandoms and interacting with characters.

More often than not, it leads to lines being blurred, and scenarios where minors are introduced to mature situations way too early.

Minors should not be interacting with adult spaces until they are of age, and I feel adults should also realize how inappropriate it is to have minor friends

And I’m not going to saying to stop interacting with minors, but don’t go actively seeking out platonic relationships with minors.

Yes, you should still be kind in your interactions towards them, but being friends with them and treating them like your adult friends is a huge problem.
