Compared to Dylan and Springsteen, country-music legend Johnny Cash can seem deeply uncool. It took time for me to appreciate his profound, plainspoken strength, writes Jon Fasman.

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

I’m sure it’s very good film, but the first time I heard the name, I assumed “The Smashing Machine” was the title of a new Wallace and Gromit.

I’m sure Jim Lovell had a word.

Lot of reasons to be negative right now, so with a view to injecting a little positivity I’ll just say these biscuits are the fucking tits.

Thing is, I went to see that last MI in the cinema but I took the kids to that. I can only carve out that kind of time of it’s also childcare, and I think that’s true for a lot of the potential audience of OBAA, hence we have to wait for it on VOD.

I really want to see One Battle After Another, but I don’t have 3 hours plus a half hour on either side spare and neither does anyone I know, so no wonder it’s opened soft.

This got lost in the churn of Netflix movies, but I really enjoyed it and there should have been a sequel.
