Inking/painting more of the big LOTR figure set and I'm up to Éomer. His pencils (right) never clicked for me - proportions wrong, horse wonky, I felt like he oughtta have a lance instead of a sword but couldn't make it fit, etc. Redid it this morning (new version on left) and am much happier.

Chasseurs, Jaegers, cazadores and so on were a type of light infantry common in Continental Europe, and as their name would imply quite sharp at shooting.

A picture of a woman soldier standing up for concept art purpose. She is wearing a reseda green uniform, which was the shade supposed to be adopted by France in 1913 to replace the bright blues and red of the 19th century, with red pants and epaulettes. On top of it she is wearing a coat of plate and maille chausses for protection. Her helmet is reinforced with a large bulletproof visor with louvered eyeslits, inspired by experimental helmets from the Great War. She is holding her long barreled RSC1918 semi automatic rifle with one hand and wielding a francisca with the other. The barrel bears kill rings near the muzzle for heretics and demons. The RSC rifles were an attempt to make semi automatic rifles using mostly old parts from the Lebel standard issue infantry gun, and while it failed at that it was still produced in decently large numbers and given to snipers and light infantry alike, who could make the most out of their increased firepower.
