This is going to be my face for the next four years. Retired; reader; hand quilter (only scrap quilts so far!); house mouse. He doesn't know it but #StephenKing is my BFF.

It makes a huge difference.

My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry
by Fredrik Backman

Stayed up past my bedtime to finish this book. It took me a minute to get fully engaged but once I got there....

Honest question: at what point do we say that congress has abandoned their jobs and find ourselves a new slate of legislators?
When you're working with teeny tiny two inch pieces of fabric it takes a long time to turn them into bigger pieces of fabric. I don't know how other quilters can say "look what I made this weekend!"

I wish I could figure out when we're going to reach the anti-MAGA tipping point.

Finders Keepers

Audiobook narrated by Will Patton

I love hanging out with my BFF, listening to him (even if it isn't his actual voice) tell me a story while I work on my own projects!

We came this close 🤏 to all-out nuclear war.
But cooler heads prevailed.
Remarkably Bright Creatures
by Shelby Van Pelt

I wasn't sure about it at first; it's rather melancholy and no one is really happy. Became invested in the story about halfway through and stayed up way past my usual bedtime for a satisfying ending.

Inserted some leftover blue and gray chrysanthemum fabrics to keep it from being too monotonous and I'm not sure how it worked but "it is what it is and I meant to do that."

Maybe it needs one more border? ...but I guess I don't have to decide today.

Mr. Mercedes
Audiobook by Stephen King, read by Will Patton

Discovered Chirp audiobooks and found a great deal on the Bill Hodges trilogy so of course I had to treat myself! It's okay that I've already read the books several times.

Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore
by Matthew Sullivan

Wasn't sure what to expect, and can't remember who recommended the book; some graphic violence, a lot of sadness, but twists and turns kept me turning pages past my bedtime.

Flop Dead Gorgeous

I had my suspicions about a certain character kind of early in the book. Stayed up way past my usual bedtime to find out that I was right!

Santa's Little Yelpers
(Andy Carpenter Mystery #26)
by David Rosenfelt

The book was published in 2022 but still no mention of Covid or the lockdown. Must be an alternate universe. But I can live with that.

Carrie, on Audible audiobook, by Stephen King, read by Sissy Spacek.

Going back to our roots: I had no idea in 1974 that we'd be together this long. Happy birthday, Steve!

"Fun" fact:

I think it might be called a basket weave or lattice? I used google sheets (or graph paper would work) and "drafted" my own pattern, just to keep from getting mixed up.
Holy Chow
(Andy Carpenter Mystery #25)
by David Rosenfelt

What I've learned reading this series: Paterson, New Jersey is a hotbed of nefarious international conspiracies!
