The Brooklyn Navy Yard’s lease agreements with Easy Aerial and Crye Precision are a moral failure and a betrayal of public trust.

I’ll be with the DBNY Coalition tomorrow at 8:30am outside Building 92. See you there. ✊🏾🇵🇸
Senator Brisport Condemns
Brooklyn Navy Yard Contracts
with Suppliers to Israeli Military
On Tuesday, September 16th
, Senator Jabari Brisport released the following statement in
response to the Brooklyn Navy Yard’s lease contracts with two companies that supply
equipment to the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF):
BROOKLYN, NY –
“It is unacceptable and deeply disturbing that the Brooklyn Navy Yard – a
city-chartered and publicly owned entity – is complicit in supplying military equipment to
the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF). The Navy Yard’s lease agreements with Easy Aerial
and Crye Precision are a moral failure and a betrayal of public trust.
Our government has been shamefully complicit in the growth and impunity of the IOF,
using U.S. taxpayer money and public resources to fund militarized violence abroad
without public consent or oversight.
I call for the immediate eviction of Easy Aerial and Crye Precision from the Brooklyn
Navy Yard, as well as a permanent ban on all new and future leases to any company
involved in the manufacture, development, or distribution of military equipment,
surveillance technologies, weapons, or tactical gear, whether for domestic policing or
international warfare.
”
Easy Aerial, deceptively categorized by the Brooklyn Navy Yard in their business directory
under “Fine Arts/Photography,” was founded by members of the IOF and manufactures
drones used by the Israeli military in its genocidal campaign in Gaza. They have a contract
with Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer.
Crye Precision, listed under “Fashion/Accessories,” designs and manufactures tactical
military gear, camouflage, and combat uniforms used by the IOF and U.S. law
enforcement, including the NYPD’s heavily militarized units.

ESD’s failure to ensure the creation of these affordable units & choice to waive the fine is outrageous—and bitterly unsurprising. They’re not prioritizing commitments to the public; they’re serving the real estate corps looking to profit off our city.

We must all stand against President Trump’s attack on Iran and the destruction of lives in pursuit of global domination.
Sen. Brisport Statement on
President Trump Attack on Iran

Sen. Jabari Brisport released the following statement in response to President Trump’s June 21st attack on Iran:

BROOKLYN, NY – “President Trump’s criminal attack on Iran was a monumental threat to the well-being of Americans, Iranians, and people all over the world. Many New Yorkers and their loved ones in Iran are already directly in danger as a result, and any further escalation by our government will only put more lives at risk.

The path to this globally destabilizing act was paved by the same political establishment that was never held accountable for its criminal invasion of Iraq — including many of our Democratic leaders. They have continued beating the drums of war to serve their own political purposes and the interests of their campaign donors.

Every elected official who has their constituents' interests at heart must stand unequivocally against President Trump’s war on Iran and the destruction of lives in pursuit of global domination.”

We need a special session. Our people cannot wait.
Text on a blue background says: “‘NY’s Legislature just ended its session for the year. For the next 6 months, Trump will be escalating his attacks on New York without our state government scheduled to pass ANY legislation to respond and protect New Yorkers. We must hold special session, and we must start that session by passing NY4All to stand up to Trump’s unchecked ICE raids terrorizing our neighborhoods.’ - Sen. Jabari Brisport”

A reminder that politicians pushing deportation don’t actually care about legality or citizenship; they want the power to eliminate and silence people of color at will.

I vote no.

Other City Councils all over the US can directly remove a mayor when egregious situations come up — they don’t have to wait on a governor. Am. Harvey Epstein & I just introduced a state bill to give our City Council that power too.
New York City is bearing the burdens of a Mayor who lied and broke the law to take office, and then let his administration implode. It makes no sense that we have had to wait round for a Governor from Buffalo to make a decision about our city. — Sen. Jabari Brisport

Let’s reverse President Trump’s Corporate Tax Cut; tell @Governor.ny.gov to fight back by passing the Corporate Tax bill in this year’s state budget.

A group of NYers were just arrested at the State Capitol during a peaceful protest calling on Gov. Hochul to provide statewide housing assistance for people with HIV/AIDS.

Lined up between five cops, three men stand handcuffed with their hands behind their backs. One has turned to speak to an officer; the front of his shirt reads “Housing Healthcare & Justice For All” with a large pink triangle. The other two are held facing a railing; the backs of their shirts read “Housing Works Advocacy: Direct Action Since 1990”

Outside the US, tax filing is free & simple for most citizens of wealthy countries. Here, tax-filing companies have lobbied congress to prevent that, so they can profit off the struggle.

While we fight capitalist tax-profiteering, Brooklynites can sign-up for free tax service at bit.ly/bktaxprep
flyer with a bright yellow and blue design advertises "FREE TAX SERVICES!" in large bold letters. Below are two people smiling and looking at paperwork. The state budget was due April 1st, but Governor Hochul is refusing to work on finalizing our state funding because the legislature is pushing back against this ban. Please take a quick moment to call her (and ask a friend to do so as well.) We’ve got to speak up right now.
jabaribrisport.bsky.social
Governor Hochul is planning to force this into our state budget, so she can tie it to funding that our communities desperately need. Unlike at the federal level – where congress wields the most power over the budget – at the state level NY's Governor has far out-sized power to set our budget.
jabaribrisport.bsky.social
The Governor says she’s considering a “medical exemption” to the mask ban, but she knows there is no functional way to implement that. A cop won’t know that you’re feeling sick, and by the time you’ve got a test to prove it, you've potentially been spreading a disease for *days*.
jabaribrisport.bsky.social
New York might become the next state to pass legislation making us more vulnerable to contagious diseases. It’s in the works right now, so this is the moment to speak up.
