Jetzt Jesiden in den Irak abzuschieben, kommt mir ungefähr so vor, wie wenn man 1948 Juden nach Deutschland abgeschoben hätte mit der Begründung, der Krieg sei ja vorbei und es gebe dort keine Verfolgung mehr. Außerdem würden da ja noch ein paar Juden leben, also bitte nicht so anstellen.

I've been working on recent Qur'an translations. A common feature here is the desire to defend Islam against attacks. What struck me today is that, contrary to what many (including Muslim translators) would intuitively assume, this did not start on September 11, 2001. It started on January 16, 1991.

One thing I find striking is how bad most students' computer skills are. Many of them don't even know the basic functions of word processors such as tabs and indents and page breaks. Phones might be smart but they are dumbing people down.

This German Qur'an translation, allegedly by one Muhammad Abdallah (what a totally not AI-generated super-un-generic Muslim name!), is 100% identical to the result you get if you enter Marmaduke Pickthall's Qur'an translation into DeepL. Isn't this a weird coincidence? 😜
