My dumb idea: 10 race chase with top 10 points scoring drivers who have won a race. If 12 drivers win, top 10 point scorers of the 12 are in. If 9 win, then the top non-winner is in. Rewards wins but the champ feels worthy. Spiritually, if you dont win a race I’m ok with you not making the playoffs

But the greater issue is that no one in a position to make these decisions seems to have any idea what they really want out of a championship format other than ratings on Sundays in the fall which are not coming

I think going back to chase format where wins significantly increase your point total is their best bet. We simply cannot continue with this stupid format where the roval is a pivotal race in the championship hunt every year

I’ve only done them when the adrenaline is pumping and it’s still a shock. I can only imagine doing them when your body and mind are in a “sitting in a podcast studio” state it feels like dart dipped in fireball shot up your nose
