BREAKING:

The New York Times have confirmed that Disney will name the CEO successor officially next week.

More details and sweeping changes at the company are expected to be unveiled in waves shortly after.

Here we go - make sure to join me LIVE (on X) or just after (here) on Monday morning!
REMINDER - DISNEY EARNINGS - MONDAY 2ND FEB @ 12:00 GMT:

Disney are reporting their Earnings before the market opens on Monday, which is a very rare move especially for a company of Disney's size (Disney have in fact never done it).

Could the new CEO be imminent / what else could be in store?

The biggest Oscar snub this year, in my view?

Ariana Grande - both for "Best Supporting Actress" and "Best Original Song" categories.

Say what you want about "Wicked: For Good"'s UNpopular second-act but Ariana delivered a knockout performance of the year!

And the song was her character's journey

That "Masters Of The Universe" Trailer absolutely sold me on the movie - I actually fully forgot Jared Leto was even in it as the villain (who is shown multiple times) to be honest!

Sharp visuals, stunning world building, emotional stakes, bright colours, humour without being overly goofball...

Disney's CEO succession announcement is happening in February.

Will it be Josh D'Amaro and/or Dana Walden and/or an outside candidate?

From what I understand so far, expect a big reorg with new roles at the top to support the new CEO.

Disney Earnings are being held on MONDAY 2nd Feb @ 11:00 GMT!

The investors screaming at Netflix that they're making a huge mistake going for Warner Bros have misunderstood Netflix's business entirely...

Netflix have a very successful service already, yes, but they have largely reached the ceiling of what they can achieve (within Movies & TV) without WB.

NETFLIX UP WARNER DEAL TO ALL-CASH:

Netflix and Warner Bros Discovery are accelerating their deal approval timeline (with shareholders, the regulators run on their own timetable).

As Netflix switch their $83B deal for WB to being all-cash AND WBD's board release the Discovery Global valuation math

Currently LOVING #HighPotential on Disney+ UK weekly - wicked humour and really crafty mysteries!

Such a throwback vibe to another TV era...

The kind of show we generally don't see made today as streaming pushes for smaller episode counts and inflated budgets (which leads to shorter runs overall).

NINTENDO SWITCH 2:

Nintendo have FINALLY confirmed that their new console - the Switch 2 - will be released globally in 2025.

Several "Hands-On" events to occur in April/May.

We will learn more about the console and games line-up at a global Direct Presentation on 2nd April (which I shall cover)!

Apologies for not being as active as I want to be recently on here - it will be my priority to shift more attention over here in January (I cannot take the other realm much longer at all)

I also want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year before the final slew of Hollywood news today

Disney Live-Action's new strategy is becoming clearer - still SELECT "remakes" of animated classics but more flexibility in expanding them on top of a handful of sequels and a load of original movies...

"Tangled" is the latest remake announced - and it seems pretty far along already!

"Wicked"'s soundtrack has me soaring through the Western skies!

Even before seeing the full film, I am Enchanted and swept away with the level of emotion, dedication, talent and POWER from Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande and the entire team.

I'm aware I'm geeking out but it truly is that awesome!
