I enjoyed it, but I preferred Arbor Day since it felt more like people doing the best they could with nothing, rather than being silly because they could, although both are valid!😄

Arbor Day (1990) Review:

The acting is awful & there's no story, however where this film excels is the gags & creative ways to do gore on a tiny budget.
I enjoyed this movie as much as any I've seen recently with 10x the money & resources behind them, and that's something to be celebrated!

Behold! The fancy present I was awaiting to arrive for my mum's 70th! Luckily it all got here on time and in one piece, a bottle of Bollinger Champagne, two glasses and a corkscrew made of Venezuelan Trinitario beans, all in a lovely box!🍾🥂🍫

It's so flipping hot on this train and I forgot my mini-fan😫

If I do meet a partner at some point I require them to have incredibly icy hands🥶 I run like a furnace and I could really use that right now🔥

The eyelash stuff really grossed me out, especially when I learned that it actually used to happen! (almost certainly less exaggerated, but they did sow them to the eyelids it seems)

The Ugly Stepsister (2025) Review:

Period satire about the beauty standards projected onto women that examines things from all sides and doesn't pull any punches.
There is a brutal realism mixed in with the fantastical setting & delusions that makes this as chilling as it is enjoyable!

I heard a magpie in my garden trees when I woke up and threw out a few nuts for it, only to have a squirrel hop down as soon as I turned to leave, I saw them out of the corner of my eye. They are clearly watching me, but they don't trust me! How can I earn their squirrel affection?!🐿️

Spooky Season watch Day 8 is the Norwegian dark fairytale The Ugly Stepsister from earlier this year, I've heard it has 'fantasy The Substance' vibes, we shall see!👠

I find it hard to review a film I have nothing but love for!
Set in a world where supernatural slashers are real, while remaining relatively grounded.
It asks real questions about the meaning of it all, why we are attracted to these stories & the human cost, it's also smart & funny to boot!
