I’ve stopped taking my stitching away as it never gets done so just takes up space.
I’ve not done a cross stitch update for a while because sewing time has been limited. But here’s the difference between 25 July & 31 October 2025.

Sharing my Batley St Mary of the Angels RC parish One-Place Study love. Appropriately on 11 November, as the church WW1 War Memorial was the catalyst for my study. #OnePlaceStudy #LocalHistory #Batley
We don’t usually have a webinar in November as that’s the month of our AGM and annual conference. This November however we have our AGM and conference *plus* a webinar! @janeroberts.bsky.social Jane Roberts will be giving a presentation on her #OnePlaceStudy of Batley St Mary’s on November 11th.
Had a few days off staying in a cottage right by the beach at #Porthdinllaen on the Llŷn Peninsula in Wales. Total chill out time with not one jot of genealogy research done. Instead it was family time, plus connecting with nature with beach walks, #sunrises, #sunsets and #rainbows. Bliss.
Another archive day, this time West Yorkshire Archive Service Wakefield. Delving through Nostell Priory staff records, amongst others. Now to write up the report.

Bowling Cemetery work visit & drawn to a huge memorial commemorating Cpl Jerry Delaney MM, Royal Fusiliers, Sportsman’s Battalion, killed in France. No other names. Public subscription paid for his memorial & Lord Lonsdale contributed - Jeremiah Delaney was a Bradford boxer with no known grave #WW1
No words Sylvia, other than sending hugs x
I do love it when a plan comes together. And all in record time too. Speculative research for a client in Leeds RC Diocesan Archives, and within 15 minutes found exactly what I wanted and more besides! A reminder that family history is not all online. #FamilyHistory #Archives
Stories Beneath the Stones at Batley Cemetery, led by #Batley History Group members, with the town’s fascinating history demonstrated by those buried there. Even the wet weather added to the atmosphere … though I’m glad to get home to dry out, warm up and have a cuppa #HeritageOpenDays #LocalHistory
As part of this year’s Heritage Open Day events, I visited Shibden Hall, Halifax, the former home of Anne Lister. Lots of costumes on display from the TV drama #GentlemanJack, along with gorgeous period furnishings too. #ShibdenHall #Calderdale #AnneLister #HeritageOpenDays
Gave a successful talk tonight to a lovely group at Drighlington about ‘How to Research Your Family Tree.’ Attendees had a range of experience from novice to more advanced. Notes were taken & lots of questions asked at the end, which is always a good sign.

More or less over my op, and fully back working. Today I’m preparing slides for one of the five family/local history talks I’ll be giving between now and the end of November. Roll on Christmas 😂

Arrived in the post today, bought via Amazon in a good used condition (looks new & unread to me) at a bargain price of £7.67. #EvidenceExplained #Genealogy #FamilyHistory
Good luck with your project. I tend to use the ones that come with the kits and it’s normally evenweave or aida fabric. But this is a handy guide to needle size. www.stitcher.co.uk/which-needle...
