Ah yeah I feel you. I found that using oil or acrylic brushes during texture painting helps match the vibe of the shows backgrounds pretty well

It’s mostly just some basic shapes I modeled in Blender and painted in Procreate. And then I have a custom shading/compositing setup I’m using on both the chars and the BG to help capture that cel-shaded style of the show.
