Movie recommendations on Sunday and book recommendations on Monday. Now I added Comics Recommendations for Saturday. Tell your loved ones about Catturd Tuesdays. It’s not much of a description but if I don’t mention it, I won’t remember it at my age.
Monday Book Recommendation: The Book of Skulls was written by Robert Silverberg, a writer who specialized mainly in science fiction. However, 99% of what happened in this book can happen in real life and possibly the remaining 1% too.

Sunday Movie Recommendation: Computer Chess is a dark and inventive film set in the very early days of computer gaming. A group of programmers get together to play chess and find there is much more to the “game” than they can imagine.

Democratic Socialism is not something the Democrats need to “work into over time”. It’s something that can and needs to be accomplished NOW. The time for caving into Republicans who will hate you no matter what is over.

When someone gets murdered at sea, let’s call it “getting Hegsethed”.

Saturday Comics Recommendation: Hyde Street is probably my favorite Ghost Machine title right now. Great characters, fabulous artwork, and wonderful world building.

I stayed the hell away from Black Friday today, not even a penny spent, and Cyber Monday is going to get exactly the same kind of love from me.

We shouldn’t reduce those who were victimized by Epstein and his goons to being solely “victims” but we should definitely reduce the Epstein Class to being “victimizers” only.

An open letter to Stephen A. Smith:

Dear substanceless loudmouth,

Silence is golden and duct tape over your mouth is silver.

Sincerely,

Someone who wishes you were raised better

Think of the internet as an ailing patient who can be saved given the proper resources. Now think of Musk, Zuckerberg, Brin, and Bezos as hospital intruders sneaking in to poison the IV bag.
The Dead Internet Theory’s core fear is that the internet will become an uncanny echo chamber of machine-generated noise. This is exactly what critics see in AI slop. Content farms are spitting out filler, platforms are rewarding volume over quality.

AI slop is flooding feeds with Shrimp Jesus memes and cat soap operas. A ListenFirst study shows Dead Internet Theory is closer to reality than ever.

What a cunt. That’s the nicest thing that deserves to be said about him while it’s the time of goodwill toward men.
He will be remembered only for snatching food and life saving medicine from the poorest in the world. USAID.💔💔💔

Freedom to fail is not freedom if it is the only “freedom”.

I don’t care if you are wearing a suit and tie. If everyone else has to wear shoes, so should you.
November 26, 2025 at 2:42 PM
Overdue Monday Book Recommendation: Prince Ombra is a book that not many people talk about today. It’s about a little boy tasked with defeating an evil presence that corrupts everything and everyone around him.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Private equity doesn’t need to just be broken up, all of its bigwigs need to do hard time for manslaughter. As long as we got Trump, PE gets the first laugh, the last laugh, and every laugh in between.
November 23, 2025 at 4:23 PM
Sunday Movie Recommendation: Slacker is perhaps the greatest punk cinema since Repo Man. It’s not for those who are stuck on setting, conflict, and resolution but watching scenes flow into each other on a shoestring budget works for me.

Someone stop Mamdani. He’s gonna make children learn Arabic numerals. Then the Latin alphabet. Then the Gregorian Calendar. Then he’ll tell us that we need to drink dihydrogen monoxide. He’s inhuman, I tell you. Inhuman!!!!

Saturday Comics Recommendation: Yellow is about a near future American Civil War and a soldier whom everyone thinks is a coward but becomes very courageous when he finds the right mission.

When will people ever learn? MAGA “conservatives” have far more in common with Soviet communism than Socialist Democrats ever will?

2025 is the year of selling out. Trump selling us out to Saudi Arabia and Elon. Slipknot selling out to private equity. The billionaires and Congress selling out to Trump.

A day with Fox News existing is a day wasted.

Monday Book Recommendation: I don’t read many biographies but I love If Chins Could Kill. Campbell is fascinating, hilarious, and positive even through some lean times before he became famous. I never knew that it was so difficult to make The Evil Dead. Thank them for what they went through.
November 18, 2025 at 4:54 AM
Overdue Monday Book Recommendation: The Time Ships is an extremely ambitious sequel to HG Wells’s The Time Machine. It gives us Dyson spheres, alternate dimensions, sympathetic Morlocks, and some HG Wells Easter eggs.
November 18, 2025 at 4:46 AM
Overdue Monday Book Recommendation: Zombie is proof to the old adage “Hell is other people”. Especially when other people are Dahmeresque serial killers. Short and not quite as creepy as the Mar-a-Lago guest list, but still creepy.
November 18, 2025 at 4:42 AM
Overdue Sunday Movie Recommendation: Predestination took a risk by adding an extra plot twist to Robert A. Heinlein’s “All You Zombies”. It worked out perfectly. Also, great performances by Ethan Hawke and Sarah Snook. Watch it!!!

Heavier Trip is a little bit inferior to the first film but it’s still got a lot of great laughs. I also love how BABYMETAL effortlessly wins over “sellout hater” Xytrax with catchy pop melodies and by being just generally sweet natured.
