"The average total cost of repair (TCOR) has increased by 96.4% since 2009—from $2,405 to over $4,720 in 2024. Nearly half of that increase occurred in just the past five years." - Kyle Krumlauf

We live in a peak-streaming-era, and there's so much content we don't always notice it until it's gone. I'm a big Jensen Ackles fan from his #Supernatural days, but I didn't realize he was starring in a new series called #Countdown on Amazon Prime Video...
...but I got bored of it very quickly from a consumption perspective (I didn't make any videos).

I'm not the target demographic for this, but I do wonder it the popularity of it will remain over time... 🤔

#Sora #AIslop
I got access to #Sora a few days ago and meh. 🤷‍♂ It's basically a firehose of #AIslop. It's *personalized* slop, and because we're all egotistical to varying degrees, the navel-gazing appeal of it is understandable...
The Seattle airport needs about 20x more no idling signs. I'd love to see tickets being handed out. This is insane. It's a balmy day, neither cold nor hot.
You have to be a special kind of planet-hating person to sit in a cell phone parking lot at the airport with your engine idling the entire time. The car next to me has been idling for 25 minutes. 😲

The next two decades are going to be very challenging as China grapples with the impact of their choices from the '70s.
Medication advertising in the USA is hilarious sometimes...look at this ad. It has zero information about what health issue the drug is used for! This may be peak drug company hubris: "Just ask your doctor about our drug, maybe they'll find a symptom that matches?". 😂
I didn't truly understand how often some adults lost things until I joined our building Slack channel where 90%+ of the posts every week are by people who lost something, and are looking for it, or people who found something and are wondering who it belongs to. This kind of amazes me. 😮 #LostnFound
So...*sometimes* it does help. 😄 (but most of the time it does not)

[The teeny character limit on @bsky.app is irksome]
For anyone that has ever asked themselves "Why do I bother keeping the original packaging for things?", well friend, I shipped some lenses and a camera to a company to get a price quote, and in total I made an extra $49 by sending them all back in original packaging.
"Beautiful, clean coal will be essential to powering America’s reindustrialization and winning the AI race.”
- U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright

We are truly living in the stupidest of all the timelines. 🤦‍♂ $625 million taxpayer dollars wasted on an obsolete industry.
DOE props up dying coal with $625M days after Wright mocks clean energy subsidies
Trump's DOE funnels $625 million into coal revival after axing $13 billion for renewables, doubling down on dirty, outdated energy.

Did anyone else watch #Highest2Lowest on #Netflix and find it disappointing? Denzel Washington is one of the best actors alive — I will watch *anything* with him in it — but this movie was like some kind of "B" movie. Spike Lee did not bring the heat with this one. 😕
...reading this article about the unique factors that shaped the current financial success of many boomers, there are definitely some massive issues here, especially in Europe where pensions are more the norm. Worth a read.
Whenever I see an article blaming generation "A" for problem "B", I am highly skeptical because society has a long history of shifting blame to certain age brackets. And yet...
The Global Economy Has a Boomer Problem
The generation that gave itself a wealthy retirement is hurting young people today. It doesn't have to be this way, writes Renaud Foucart.

If you're in the USA, no matter who you voted for in the last election, a really important question to ask yourself is this: do you want a President in office, or a King? Because this list reads like what a monarch does, not an elected representative of the people. 😲

Behind the Curtain: Trump and the most unprecedented presidency in 250 years
Trump has veered, often suddenly, proudly and loudly, into unprecedented territory in at least 15 different areas.

Wouldn't it be amazing if YouTube allowed you to set one default speed for music videos (1x) and a different default speed for other videos (1.5x). Maybe this amazing technological breakthrough will happen in my lifetime. 😏 Until then, it's a few clicks every time I switch types of videos. 😩
I came to the USA on an H-1B. While I believe I have rare skills in my area of expertise, would the corporation who sponsored me (HTC) have paid $100K for them? I doubt it. My life would have a different trajectory if I'd stayed in Canada. This will backfire badly.

Trump says H-1B visas will now cost $100,000 per-year
Donald Trump is targeting H-1B visas frequently used by the tech industry with a $100,000 per-year fee.

It was truly strange for first 5 minutes, then it became normal. Until it became strange again when I wondered why it was pulling through a parking lot, but that turned out to be a good choice. Then it told me I may have left something in the car when I did not. So nothing seriously weird.
