Like most of you, I am suffering from sorrow for what is happening to our country. My place of healing is nature, but I can't go out today. But I can revisit past trips and share some #RandomBeauty. I encourage everyone to do so. Stay strong and fight!

This Red-winged Blackbird has his head bowed down and stuffed into a hole at a feeding station looking for food. This is a non-breeding male and I had never seen this plumage up close before. Beautiful!

This bird's coloring is much different from the breeding male. Its coloring is a tweedy looking pattern in black and white and a little gold on the wings. The bird is perched on a log dimpled with holes that have been filled with food at a feeding station.

The heron has its neck contracted into its body. Its head, back and wings are all a soft beautiful blue-gray-green color and its throat and chest are a pale violet. In this photo, the fish is hanging limp from the heron's mouth. In the final photo, the heron's neck is slightly extended and there is a lump in the throat where he has just swallowed the fish.
