Way too many senior managers have only ever learned how to measure motion. This is why they are insisting on RTO when productivity was just fine with WFH. This is also what AI is doing; lots of motion, less progress

If it is true that she raised tens of millions of dollars, it's because investors believe the bullshit. The investment isn't proof of anything. Most VC firms can (and often do) lose tens of millions, but hate the idea of missing out on a "unicorn" so will invest in a new story just in case

I don't see how a sincere Christian could hold onto the wealth Thiel has; sincerity would demand that he give that away, ergo his Christian references are a cynical display of religiosity deployed to garner the support of the religious right.

This really is the way. I was writing on some other forum (reddit, maybe?) and said a bunch of words about freedom followed by, "and this is why LGBT rights matter" and somebody responded that they thought I was a Republican because of all the freedom-words

"Cancel culture", by and large, is itself nothing more than the public exercising their free speech. It rarely (if ever?) attempted to wield the levers of government to silence enemies, it was just a loud opposition to speech that was deemed unacceptable

Part of the problem is our continued framing of politics as "Right" and "Left" as if they are the only two teams and the two teams are united. Both groups are actually very diverse but once a person starts identifying with one of the two teams, they start to cheer for that team no matter what

There comes a point where Hanlon's Razor ("never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence") doesn't matter. The harm being done is so severe that it doesn't matter if it is done intentionally or not.
