Nice to read the first of hopefully many Call of the Wilde columns that follow Habs wins this year. While it's likely you're on point with Laine, Marty has done wonders reinventing Andy and Gally. I'd give it some time still with Laine. He seems to want to be here.

Got impaled by a neighbour's poorly-constructed homemade for sale sign catching a foul fly ball playing 2 vs 2 street baseball when I was in high school. Just missed puncturing my lung, was very bloodied, required a tetanus shot, but...I made the catch!

If this is the final of the season, thanks for the work you put into these and for sharing your insight. Might be in the minority but I'm not ready to write Laine off yet. He seemed slower than usual (so don't think he was ever 100%) and he actually seemed to be trying to evolve his game to me.

Rip the reffing, fine. But for a young team expected to finish near the bottom of the league to be dragged into the playoffs largely by their young core and making things hard on the 1st place team in all 4 games, leave the players alone and enjoy every minute they give us these playoffs.

I agree he still has levels to go up but he was solid tonight. Active, some good looks. His pressure led to the turnover on the Suzuki goal. And he just turned 21. He is going to be a beast in a few years.

Loved that video. Also reminds me how I played 30-40 years ago when I was a goalie for DDO. The fact that penalties were rarely called on me then and weren't on Stolarz is reassuring to know that NHL refs today have the same level as 1980s/90s west island minor hockey refs.
