Excited to share a project I have been working on! I'm writing a book to support educators in the high school to college transition! #highereducation #college #studentsuccess #teachingandlearning
I was just thinking this! Protect @joycecaroloates.bsky.social at all costs!

Having eye surgery tomorrow morning. Behold my emotional support empanada. Nothing better.
Transparent sticky notes are my jam. Highly underrated. A lot of high school students still have paper textbooks they can’t write in! Clear sticky notes allow students to be active readers and annotate without inking up the book! #studyskills #literacy #reading
I learned a lot about the extent of communities in gaming from my college-aged son! 😀
There is actually a huge gaming community, and many collaborate on platforms like Discord. For some, this is a primary socialization approach. I have loads of feelings about too much gaming, but wanted to put this out www.bbc.com/news/disabil...
My disabled son’s amazing gaming life in the World of Warcraft - BBC News
Robert and Trude thought their son Mats lived a lonely life, but they discovered this was far from true.

Great question! I'm conducting a systemic functional linguistic analysis of feedback questions generated by AI. At this time, AI does not seem to be able to move past identifying primary linguistic markers, procedural language etc. in the questions it developed towards a deeper analysis.
Interesting! I tried to change the prompts to be as explicit as possible, but it just couldn't handle the task I asked it to do.
“Leaders who do not act dialogically, but insist on imposing their decisions, do not organize the people--they manipulate them. They do not liberate, nor are they liberated: they oppress.”
― Paulo Freire, Pedagogy of the Oppressed
“To glorify democracy and to silence the people is a farce; to discourse on humanism and to negate people is a lie.”

I'm working on a research project analyzing SRSD-aligned writing feedback & AI. I'm manually coding my #qualitative study. I wanted to see if AI could do a similar analysis. While it could pull counts for Bloom's taxonomy, it wasn't able to do more complex analysis...as of now. #ai #airesearch
AI has helped me "visualize" my vision changes, profoundly shaping my understanding of educational #accessibility. While always a priority, my challenges transformed me as an educator. It also pushed me to write a book—more to follow! Nervously approaching surgery next month but looking ahead.
I’ll be there presenting on my AI and SRSD writing strategies research. #literacy #highereducation #Ai
Thank you @mychal3ts.bsky.social for all you do to elevate voices and advocate for literacy!
When Congressman John Lewis was a child, he tried to get a library card. He was turned away & told “The Library is not for coloureds” 💔

He’s a civil rights icon, lover of books, recipient of the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature.

“The Library IS for Everyone” 💚

I just posted about the power of reading today. So important!
I don’t always wear hats, but when I do…
Go to the library.
Read diverse texts & genres from different cultures & perspectives
Read history.
Read poetry.
Read people’s stories.
Read the news—multiple sources.
Read critically & analytically.
Read for pleasure.
Read to learn.
Read because it matters.
