things fall apart
What once was a Bigleaf maple tree, rotted at the base and toppled by high winds. Fallen apart, flat and covered with moss and lichen into a field along the Santiam river. The opposite bank is covered with trees under cloudy skies ☮️

An all-black bird, so often difficult to photograph. In this case, though, the bright sunlight is giving the black feathers a sheen. In turn, the sheen makes individuals feathers stand out. The bird's eye is dark brown. The black beak comes to a point. The legs and feet are also black. The crow is standing on gray asphalt, providing a pebbly but neutral background.
