Mamdani: "Trump ran on 3 promises - punishment of his political enemies, easing cost of living crisis, & mass deportation. It's that second promise that brought so many to his campaign. And yet he's unable & unwilling to deliver bc he's beholden to the very billionaires that are profiting off of it"

Picture how big the Hoover Dam is. An absolute unit. The Hoover Dam has a power capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW).

The solar farm that the Admin just cancelled could have produces 6.2 GW of power. That's more than 3 Hoover Dams.

SCOOP: The Bureau of Land Management says the largest solar project in Nevada — the Esmeralda 7 mega-farm — has been canceled

The news was quietly dropped via a sudden website update with no public word from any of the companies involved or a statement from the agency

Who could have guessed that Trump's "Give me the peace prize now or I'll go to war with you" strategy wouldn't work out?

The America we used to live in—the America we want to think we live in—is gone.

We’ll have to build again.
We want to think that the repeated, widespread abuse of basic rights by DHS; the DOJ actions against former officials like James Comey and John Bolton; the presence of 2020 election deniers across congressional and executive branch leaders; the unconstitutional dismantling of federal agencies; the consolidation of old and new media under leadership favorable to Trump; the use of lawsuits and executive branch power to intimidate and silence critics; and the clear attempts to subvert the 2026 and 2028 elections; and Trump's constant insinuation that he might seek a third term do not all in fact mean
that we have crossed the threshold into a competitive authoritarian environment.
But we have. We have passed through the veil. Whatever becomes of American liberal democracy in the near or distant future, it will be a resurrection and not a continuation.

Posted this to Facebook 9 years ago today. It's why I have such little patience for the "No one could have predicted it would be this bad!" people. Some of us did predict it. And we tried to warn people.
Donald Trump has done so many unbelievable things during this election that he has almost lost his capacity to shock. Last night's promise to jail his political opponent was only the latest example, but let's not forget that he has also...
1. Indicated that his political opponent should be assassinated.
2. Openly incited his supporters to violently attack his opponents' supporters.
3. Instructed security at his rallies to violently restrict press access.
4. Invited a foreign power to interfere in the election.
5. Indicated that he would use nuclear weapons in low-grade tactical situations.
6. Indicated that he would withdraw the United States from NATO and other international organizations/treaties.
7. Openly expressed admiration for some of the world's most violent and repressive national leaders.
8. Promised to use racial & religious qualifications to bar people from entering the country.
9. Bragged about sexually assaulting and/or indicated a desire to sexually assault women.
10. Openly mocked a disabled person when he knew the cameras were rolling.
11. Promised to restrict the press' First Amendment freedoms.
12. Indicated a desire not only to fight terrorists, but "take out their families" as well.
13. Indicated that racial/national background characteristics are disqualifying for federal judges.
14. Has expressed a stunning ignorance of and disinterest toward the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and the separation of powers system.
This is just what i can remember off the top of my head; I'm sure there are more equally galling/dangerous incidents.
Individually any one of these incidents should disqualify a presidential candidate, and probably would in a normal year. Taken as a whole they indicate a candidate who is so far outside the mainstream of American politics that he should never have been let in. Even if you stipulate that Hillary Clinton has done everything she has ever been accused of doing (which she hasn't), Donald Trump would still be th…

"30-year-old conservative lawyer and activist who is Trump’s nominee to lead the Office of Special Counsel, which deals with federal employee whistleblower complaints and discrimination" cancelled his colleague's hotel room so she would be forced to stay with him.
www.politico.com/news/2025/10...
In late July, Paul Ingrassia, the White House liaison for the Department of Homeland Security, arrived at a Ritz-Carlton in Orlando with a lower-ranking female colleague and others from their department. When the group reached the front desk, the woman learned she didn’t have a hotel room.

Ingrassia then informed her that she would be staying with him, according to five administration officials familiar with the episode. Eventually the woman discovered that Ingrassia had arranged ahead of time to have her hotel room canceled so she would have to stay with him, three of those officials said.
