Beautiful work by Zachery C. Longboy yesterday evening at the opening of Signals (digital media exhibit) in Vancouver.
Large hand drawn flowers and fish, not coloured in, projected on a dark floor.

Emma was the first Austen I read in school because I wanted to be different and not get one of the ‘well known ones’ (the things you find important when you’re 11…). So I’ve always kept a soft spot for it even though I know it’s not the best by far - might want to reread it now too!

Saw Taylor Tomlinson yesterday during her ‘Save Me’ tour. Smart, funny and original, focusing on religious upbringing and other family issues. Highly recommend to see live (not just on Netflix). Opening act Dustin Nickerson was lovely, too.
A photo of the stage of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver before the show. We see an image of Taylor Tomlinson on a screen with a qr code for future dates. There is a mic and stool with bottle of water on stage. The curtains have a purple light hue. Front rows are packed with people.

Sometimes, Vancouver is just beautiful.
A view from the Aquabus towards the Burrard Street Bridge. The sun is shining and there are mountains visible in the background.

On my way to Vancouver for two more days of doing shows at the Fringe, and annoyed that the internet connection on the ferry isn’t strong enough to watch the Fire Emblem announcement trailer…

Yeah those! I’ve seen them open during the weekend I think twice at around 9 - guess I’ve just been very lucky then?

Not making any excuses because I totally agree with you on the general Granville early closure issue, but there is in fact one dedicated ‘late night washroom’ that stays open. It’s just not very easy to find. Unless you found it and they closed off even that one?!?

Forgot to mention my PAX highlights! I’m excited for Rollergirl, Birdseed VR (by local team Buffalo Buffalo) and Veil of the Witch. Played Kirby Air Riders demo but didn’t click with me. Also, not on PAX but do check out The Midnight Barber (not out yet) from a super talented small Spanish team.

First shows of ‘the Song Collector’ tonight at Vancouver Fringe were nerve wrecking but wonderful. It was great to see people who never met before bond over music. Connections like that are essential right now.

Feeling like a proper Canadian (BC) artist after being interviewed by CBC Radio NXNW!

Totally agree. I was lucky enough to visit it back in LA on a day they had the live performances and it added so much more to the experience! The puppetry specifically was excellent.

We had an owl in the garden that was thoroughly investigated by Animal Crossing’s resident owl Blathers as well.
A photo of a barred owl on a fence. In front out of focus there’s a Lego version of Blathers with a loupe. Same photo as before but now Blathers ison focus.

I'm reading all the way through CRIMINAL for a thing, and no-one has mentioned this, but CRIMINAL really is good comics. I'm breaking this news. It's time folks knew.

Quote this with a book you read way too young that explains why you are the way you are.
A cover of Firestarter by Stephen King. It’s the 1984 film tie in edition with a very toung Drew Barrymore on the cover and a blaze of fire behind her.

Time to catch up on some reading.
A stack of books on a table, mostly comic books, including work by Alison Bechdel, Star Trek ‘Warp Your Own Way’, Frankrnstein, Murder Ballads, Beneath the Trees by Patrick Horvath and a theatre play textbook titled ‘In Love and Warcraft’.
