sol arguably was the least cowardly of the jedi who were on brendok that fateful day, but that was not important. not right now.

" i have met only a version of you. a mask—or... helmet, in your case. " an added line to hopefully ease tensions? worth a shot.
He blinked. Sol was a known coward, why is he pushing on such a random topic.

“What—what do you mean? He asked. This was all too suspicious.
brown eyes attentively observe, and the anger in his voice spoke volumes, too. this is exactly why sol was glad they weren't alone, but in public...

" maybe we simply have not met in a way that would... clear things up. "

“Because. We haven’t met, Jedi.” He seethed. But in a way, making Sol feel stupid did have a satisfaction to it.
brows knitted together in a frown. sol clearly wasn't satisfied with the answer. but how to push for something more genuine without pushing imri AWAY?

" — why not? "

" — why not? "
Right. The question provided some relief. He ignored the first part, and gave a truthful answer to the last.

“No? You’re not supposed to.” Imri downplayed any emphasis on ‘supposed to’.

No Jedi were supposed to know his master’s mistakes. Sol was only supposed to trust the order like a fool.
lucky for imri, sol held no such delusions. if there was a way out of the darkness, it would be a long, hard one – and only work if the individual was willing to go.
" you asked me if i recognize you. i did recognize a certain familiarity about you, but... DO i know you? am i supposed to, perhaps? "

Well…that did get his attention. Even if it was in a morbid, about to witness a tragedy (or his own demise) curiosity.

“Speak.” He sighed, trying to sound nonchalant. Sol must be up to no good; another Jedi clinging to the belief that their order could absolve them of responsibility, scares Imri.
sol nodded, feeling a surge of – if temporary – confidence.

" yes, you. but i will not force you to speak to me, you are free to walk away. "

and he felt the need to add one thing: " this concerns neither osha nor mae. "

Imri wasn't often surprised, but Sol just caught him off guard. So much so, it almost felt uncomfortable.

If not to grovel and beg for his life, what the kriff could the emotional wreck of a Jedi Master want with him? He noticed a deep nagging fear that he hoped would be proved to be wrong.

"Me?"
oh, this was going every bit as awful as he had expected, maybe even feared...

sol sighed, casting his gaze downward in sorrow, guilt...

" and i do not fault her for that. she has every reason to. " he paused.

" ... but i was hoping to speak to you . "

Surely Sol did not smile at Imri? Oh, he had. Rather an attempt was made to smile. It looked every bit as pained and awkward as Sol felt. Imri's browed creased, not amused.

"If Mae wants to kill you, she'll more than kill you. Making chit chat with her Master won't undo what you did to her, Jedi."
sol knew neither of them would attack, not when there were civilians to br caught in the crossfire.
which presented itself as a chance... but how to approach the other without it being cringeworthy and/or awkward...?

he tried a smile. " i did not expect to see you here. "

He saw Sol after an agonizingly long approach. The man's emotions made themselves known before he was physically near.

Thankfully, Sol was alone, and looked surprised as he was met with a slight scowl. But there were civilians here, so Imri wouldn't be violent; his issues were with The Jedi alone.
it was a coincidence indeed, though it wasn't so much an annoying one to the jedi. it was simply a little... surprising.

though sol's thoughts had lingered often on the other, he wasn't going to enforce an interaction, and was more than happy to just let it slide as just that – coincidence.

[ @jedimastersol.bsky.social ] He'd been trying to ignore the Jedi while stuck on Olega till Mae succeeded.

For a Master, the old man was an emotional mess. Imri couldn't understand much, but he felt Sol approaching. Had Sol sought him out; or was this an annoying coincidence? He sighed.
