Been seeing an uptick in Virtual Boy requests (likely with the recent announcement for Virtual Console sparking an interest)

If you have a VB needing attention or are looking to acquire one knowing it might have issues, I'm your guy! I Love the VB!

Pics of the full recap service across the audio amp board, servo PCB board and mainboard. All joints checked and reflowed, this is especially critical on the AMP board as the connections to the speakers are frequently cold/cracked and cause issues.

Thank you! This is awesome. My CD32 can’t read discs so this will mean I can actually play the damn thing

Would you say most of the 500/1200 games can be played with controller or mostly KB/M

I heard you can run full CD32 games off it too not just the 500/1200 stuff

oh you have same setup? interested in this mouse... i need one once i can get a terriblefire card!

Huge thanks to my most recent customer for sending in some cool accessories with his Amiga CD32 for me to test out, including a TF Expansion card that can run Amiga 500/1200 games, a mouse, etc

Need to get these for mine! The CD32 is in for a recap and cleaning

Yep quite a lot going on in there but it’s well designed and quite modular so not a huge pain to work on!

GameCube done, next patient up on the operating table…

This poor virtual boy has no image in left eye and occasional in right eye

But with some VB eye patches, cap kit and iron ready to reflow some joints this will be good as new 👍🏻

is that why theres the lighter square shape in top left of controller panel? Ive never seen or used a wavebird before but i think ive seen the dongles!

There under each system they have capacitor maps and lists you can use to know what goes where

That happens to be where I buy all my caps from too. He's the only cap kit supplier I have used that accounts for not just correct value caps but clearance, etc. I trust his kits 100%

I have a retrobright vapor chamber I built in my shop so i can do this day and night, year round (crucial as summers are short and we rarely get long stretches of good hot sun)

I use the @aergan.com vapor method, quite a few examples out there I know @machonachomedia.bsky.social did a video on it

Thats a totally valid way of doing it, but much too slow for me. I average about 20-30 minutes for a full recap (except for the few systems that just have TONS of them or are difficult to access all

The godsend in this case is the Console5 techwiki:

Here's the before and after on an Indigo GameCube I'm wrapping up for a customer (just need to finish PicoBoot install)

Not back to 100% (these rarely do) but definitely closer to the color it should be!

I had someone ask me why i bothered and didnt get a 3DS but I read since the resolution is different you either end up in a small native window or non pixel perfect scaled which neither sounds ideal to me, does that sound right?

Never had a DS before but found a deal too good to pass up on this near mint DSiXL!

Been checking out all the games I missed back then (I was a PSP guy 🤷‍♂️)

Also found this sleek display stand from
@KytorIndustries
you can get on printables!

Pics of the before and after from the retrobright. This PS1 was not horribly yellowed compared to many of the systems I see but you can clearly tell a difference! Also the shell cleaning and the before/after on the modchip wiring!

I’ll keep that in mind for sure! TBH I got this from the quade modchip diagrams and have always done it without issue but good point

Running under there was purely for management/aesthetic so for no benefit per se outside of that!
