It would be really cool if PBS could show Rick Steves when it's NOT a pledge drive.

(Yes, I donate to PBS.)

“You need a Master’s degree to shelve books?”

Tied with

“That must be such a peaceful job.”
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

she went to state legislators, TPUSA and conservative media outlets within a few hours of getting her grade, if you can’t identify the bad faith that can be seen from space, you need to get your eyes checked
a lot of people debating the merits of that dogshit essay meanwhile the girl’s mom is retweeting demands to ban all trans people from teaching at any level. it’s forest for the trees shit

One thing I did not expect about getting old was my stomach becoming a little bitch. I already gave up alcohol and cut back on sugar and now you’re whining about coffee?

Doesn't this also ruin the brand? If OU is handing out grades to anyone who complains enough, what's the point of an OU degree?

Very upsetting to find out that slop pushers are calling the current generation of children "The AI Generation"

I think I'm supposed to be hearing an Italian accent in that Rao's commercial, but it really sounds Spanish to me. I thought Rao's was a Spanish company until I saw their float in the Thanksgiving parade. Am I the only one who hears a Spanish accent?

What is the farthest north and south you have ever been?
North: St. Petersburg, Russia
South: Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica

(Originally said Oslo, but remembered St. Petersburg is further north.)

“Why don’t kids trust journalists?”
No, ChatGPT is not conscious. Are the journalists who keep writing these fucking articles?

For Christian: Ave Maria by Stevie Wonder.

For secular: This Christmas by Donny Hathaway.
What is your favorite "Christian" Christmas song and what is your favorite "Secular" Christmas song?

I will probably always adore "O Come All Ye Faithful" and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" for Christian.

And "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" for secular.

Sure, they've made an environmentally catastrophic mass hallucination disinformation plagiarism Clippy that will destabilize the world, but also their other goal is to replace human workers entirely and let us humans starve. A boycott of AI is the most important boycott of your entire life.
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

I hate incompetence. I hate dishonesty. I hate fame-seeking.

Watching the national network news while visiting my MIL was painful. I get more accurate info from bsky and reddit, and that’s a shame.
I’m not sure what to make of this survey, honestly? If you’re a young person in solidarity with Gaza, or against police killings, or you’re trans or queer, would you have reason to trust the news?
A lost generation of news consumers? Survey shows how teenagers dislike the news media
You don't have to tell Cat Murphy or Lily Ogburn about the attitudes of young people toward journalists.

This is hilarious. OMG
LOL, there's a dickhead out there who thinks Booktok invented the romance genre.

How does he even tie his SHOES?

The GenAI apologists really don’t get that the rest of us can see how much they’ve cooked their brains, huh?
December 1, 2025 at 1:28 AM
So much this.
There are potentially useful applications for GenAI and LLMs that will probably never. be realized because of the fanatical devotion to forcing it into everything to create a dependence on mediocrity.
Being pro AI (in its current state) is anti tech. You want to pull resources from actual tech (including the good uses for “ai”) to plug them into a broken fascism machine

Don’t accuse me of being anti tech because I want developments that actually matter and you don’t

This is disgusting on the part of OU. They’re destroying a graduate student for daring to uphold academic standards.
OU has put the professor here on administrative leave:

No one is free unless we are all free. When you start to add caveats to who gets autonomy and freedom, we've already lost the battle.

I wonder if the famehounds at CNBC understand that an AI can write a misleading headline as easily as they can.
November 29, 2025 at 11:41 PM
These commercials are making it very clear that "ai" is for the most absolutely useless people. You can't tell your stupid inflatable reindeer is in your neighbor's yard unless genAI tells you? Really?!
