Happy New Year! I think I'll start posting here this year. Will post about shows and films I've watched and maybe books I've read. I watch mostly kdramas but I do watch varied types/ genres, including animes, other Asian dramas, and the typical Hollywood fare/ UK/ Canadian shows.
Book#52. A Conspiracy of Faith by Jussi Adler-Olsen (2009) | Translated by Martin Aitken

In this 3rd Dept Q novel, our villain is a suave guy who has been committing the same crime for years. We learn something new about both Rose and Assad this time, too. I really liked this one. #Booksky

TV#119. #TyphoonFamily (2025)

Nice workplace #kdrama set in the late 90s with some romance on the side. I found the weekly setbacks stressful though, but I love the side characters. I want to know what this song's title is! 8/10 #TVSky www.youtube.com/shorts/ODh7f...

Film#95. Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984)

Beautiful film with a very strong message. I love the soundtrack too; it evokes a very nostalgic feel. 9/10 #TVSky #Anime

TV#118. The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse - S1 (2023)

I actually like this sequel to the series more than the original; the characters are much more interesting to me, especially Percival. I do wonder why Arthur changed so much though. 7.5/10 #TVSky #Anime

Film#94. Hellhole (2022)

Do not watch this Polish horror film while you are eating. This one is quite suspenseful with gruesome set pieces, though it did feel a tad slow in the beginning. I loved the ending imagery. 6.5/10 #Filmsky

TV#117. Dear Edward (2023)

This show centers on Edward, a young boy who is the sole survivor of a plane crash that took the lives of everyone else on it, including his family. We also watch how a disparate group of people, loved ones of the victims, cope with the grief. 8/10 #TVSky

Film#93. Herb (2007)

This Korean film stars Kang Hye Jung (she was Mi Do in Old Boy) as a mentally challenged 20-year-old navigating first love and the illness of her mother. There are some cute and funny moments in the beginning, but this is mostly a melodrama. 7/10 #Filmsky

TV#116. Witch Yoo Hee (2007)

There’s some really bad acting from some parties here, but it’s so bad, it’s actually funny. Also, who can believe Han Ga In is ugly with glasses on? The women in this #kdrama are all gorgeous, and Jae Hee is very charming. Starts out ok, but loses steam. 6/10 #TVSky

Book#51. The Absent One by Jussi Adler-Olsen (2008) | Translated by K.E. Semmel

Rose shows up in this second Department Q novel, yay! This book has really evil, sadistic villains. And Kimmie, complicated, strong, sad Kimmie. I really liked her. #Booksky

TV#115. #TheMorningShow S4 (2025)

The constant struggle between self-interest and reporting the truth is always front and center. The characters can sometimes be unlikable, but I love how they try so hard to help each other when push comes to shove. 9.5/10 #TVSky

Finished watching the first volume of #StrangerThings Season 5. You won't get spoilers from me, but I am super excited for the next volume dropping on Dec 25. It seems so far off. #TVSky

Film#92. The Terror Live (2013)

Excellent Korean thriller, with a great ending shot. I love the moral greyness of it all, as people in power deny fault and those without power become desperate to be heard. 8.5/10 #Filmsky

TV#114. #MeloMovie (2025)

A TV series that shows love stories between couples, parent-child, siblings, and friends, all working things out. The movie-making aspect wasn’t as fleshed out as I wanted but that’s not the point after all. I liked the bittersweet and open ending. 7.5/10 #TVSky #KDrama

The opening credits to the show IT: Welcome to Derry, with its bright and happy tune juxtaposed against illustrations of smiling adults and scared children, is so creepy and full of Easter eggs; I love it. #TVSky youtu.be/qwTop2qs1tE?...

Film#91. The Boxcar Children: Surprise Island (2018)

This was okay; not as good as the first film. I think it’s because the characters’ expressions look very flat, and this might have been better as an illustrated book rather than animated film. They also left out a lot from the book.6/10 #Filmsky

Book#50. The Summoning by Bentley Little (1993) | Narrated by John Pirhalla

The mythology around vampires as well as the physical condition of the victims described in this story is quite novel. Racism is touched on as well as a Chinese family plays a prominent role. This is quite scary #Booksky

Film#90. #TheBoxcarChildren (2014)

Charming film based on Gertrude Chandler Warner’s book. The illustrations (background and character work) are very nice, though the animation (the spoken parts) is not quite as smooth as, say, a Disney animation. Still, I quite enjoyed this. 8/10 #Filmsky

TV#113. #Sherlock S4 (2017)

Okay, it looks like I’ve never watched this season before until now; I thought I finished the series. Not the best season, and the twists to Sherlock’s relationships seemed to come out of nowhere. Lots of emotional gut punches though. 8/10 #TVSky

Book#49. The Keeper of Lost Causes (2007) by Jussi Adler-Olsen, Translated by Lisa Hartford

First book in the Department Q series, which was the basis for S1 of the TV show. Rose isn’t in this book yet, Hardy’s arc is not as far along, and the culprit/s are different. #Booksy
November 13, 2025 at 12:41 AM
TV#112. #OnlyMurdersInTheBuilding S5 (2025)

IMO, this season isn’t as good as previous seasons but I still enjoyed it as there are certain plot points that I liked. The cast and guest stars appear to be having a great time playing their roles too. London next season, I guess? 8/10 #TVSky

Film#89. It: Chapter Two (2019)

I liked this film upon rewatch as much as I did the first time. Most have rated this lower than the first film but I actually like it more, due to the expanded cast (adult/kid version of the same characters) and the completed story arcs for everyone. 8.5/10 #Filmsky

TV#111. #Supernatural S10 (2014)

Loved this season, as it managed to still surprise me, though I did not like that one of my favourite side characters died. Adored the musical episode too. This is the last Supernatural season I’ve watched. S11 to S15 will be all new to me. 8.5/10 #TVSky
November 9, 2025 at 12:36 AM
Film#88. It (2017)

Rewatched before I start the new TV series set in the same universe. I'm revisiting this movie for the first time since I saw it in the cinema, and I think I like it more now than I did the first time. Great casting. 8/10 #Filmsky
November 8, 2025 at 8:50 PM
TV#110. #Invasion S3 (2025)

This season shows us a different side of the aliens, as well as a faction of humans who have a divergent view of the invasion from the rest (most) of humanity. I loved the global aspect of this show, and this season everyone comes together. Hope there’s a S4. 8/10 #TVSky
November 8, 2025 at 4:36 AM
Film#87. Sherlock: The Abominable Bride (2016)

This has been classified in various ways in databases and streaming: 4th ep of S3, 1st ep of S4, or film/ TV movie. I’m putting this under TV movie. I actually don’t recall watching this before. We are in Sherlock’s mind palace. 7/10 #TVSky #Filmsky
