I work in research, so its a different place than most offices but I like reading about what others teams in the office are working on, as we tend to work within our own teams.

We have struggled for years to get people to read the website before asking questions that are answered there.

We get monthly emails with current info and upcoming happenings and have an intranet site with standard info that people need to know--stuff that doesn't change often. I am one who always reads emails because I am just that person.
