"art is inaccessible/artists are gatekeepers" is the biggest self report in the world that whoever is saying it is, at best, buying in to incredibly tedious learned helplessness or, more likely, is just a huge fucking loser.

I don't believe it when anyone tries to say artists are gatekeeping creativity because every artist I know is so generous. Lots of us sharing tutorials, free brushes and assets, share our manus, etc! There's no shortage of info or free tools out there if you're willing to look and learn.

“Here’s your coffee, ma’am!” announces the Furfrou barista as she brings the drink out to the table in front of the café. It’s a simple and ordinary action on paper, but in reality what happens is a great deal more complicated. Instead of carrying a tray with a cup on it, the barista wheels out a cart, and perched upon it is a cup which is somewhere between a mixing bowl and a wash basin. The vessel is filled with enough coffee to fill a jug or two, the sort of quantity that would be expected to go out to a catered event, and probably several cartons of cream went into filling it. The murky pool ripples as the cart trundles over concrete, and the pattern of a lotus flower drawn upon it with foam trembles. “Thank you, hon,” the giant Meganium says with a rumbling giggle as she reaches over to pick up the cup. Despite clearly being designed for someone of her proportions, there’s a moment of trepidation as she pinches the handle in her fingers and lifts it. She exercises a caution that belies her enormity and strength, taut muscles rippling along the length of the burgeoning appendage. She has to crane her neck down to further close the gap and put her mouth to the edge of the cup, taking a sip of the steaming brew, and she purrs contentedly, her antennae twitching upward. “It’s delicious, wonderful!” she declares, and she reaches into her cleavage and pulls out an oversized (and slightly dampened) bill which she hands to the Furfrou, to be exchanged for regular currency when needed. “Oh! Since you’re calling, I should mention,” Victor then exclaims, even more excited, “I posted that new video to my channel today! The one you were in!” “Yeah, I know, I saw.” The corners of Alice’s mouth feel a little more tense, her smile strained. “That’s part of why I was calling actually, you sure are getting a lot of attention with that one.” “I am? Really?” There’s a commotion of shuffling over the speakers as Victor moves around. He always defaults to performing internet-related activities on his computer, no matter how many times Alice reminds him that his smartphone is just as capable of the same functions. After a minute of booting up and clicking through windows (without any need to be reminded of his password this time at least), he exclaims, “Oh dear Arceus, that really is a lot!” The Garchomp chuckles to herself as she imagines her father gawking at his computer screen. “I think it’s a new record for you, isn’t it?” Most of Victor’s cooking videos for the past year have hovered around ten thousand views, but this newest one, with a thumbnail which prominently features herself alongside the Nidoqueen has only been up for a few hours and has already broken into sextuple digits. “It might be! Gosh, I haven’t looked at my notifications all day, I didn’t even notice! I hope people liked it!” You took a nasty fall. Euphoria becomes conscious. It’s quiet. Actually, they aren’t sure they can hear anything—that sense has been completely glazed over. The beating of their heart and whooshing breath can only be discerned by the vibrations through their flesh. They stand in a dark place. There is no light except for a golden glow which emanates from their body. They see tables and chairs and scattered drawing supplies, papers and pencils and markers and messy splotches of paint. “Pneuma?” they try to speak, but their mouth doesn’t form the necessary motions. Their jaw hangs slack, tongue drooping limply past their teeth. They cannot hear the garbled vocalization they produce. The unicorn is distinctly alone. The attempt to walk, to leave the room, is met with further resistance. Their hooves are firmly anchored to the floor as if they are bound in place. Unable to lift their legs, they must drag and shuffle forward at a languid pace. Their arms hang dead by their sides, swinging as they shamble along, and their tail drags behind them. She pushes through the closet door and the hidden door inside. The Garchomp steps into a warm room; she feels the crackling heat of a fireplace. The furnishings are rustic, tables and chairs made of dark mahogany with plush cushions. The walls are a deep orange color with whorls of paint etched across their surfaces. She sees a window partially clouded over by snow and ice. And the room’s sole occupant looks up at her at the same time that she focuses on their presence. “Hi!” the unicorn says, closing the journal they had been writing in, and they smile up at her. Their ebony face is framed by long blonde locks and accented with golden makeup. They have a long curved horn which rises from their forehead. A luminous halo floats behind their head. “What did you do with Non?” Alice demands, getting straight to the point. They tilt their head and hum. “Non?” Their expression hardly changes, smiling innocuously, until their eyes twinkle with recognition. “Ah, yes, there’s nothing to be worried about, honest. Our anchors must have gotten tangled up with each other, that’s why you ended up here instead of the palace.”
