I misread this image so badly that I can only really hope to illustrate what I saw.

( Also a good excuse for an #art study )

Beeps of my motherboard
I hear your cry
decipher your message
after many tries

A dutiful daughter
I'll tend to your needs
And hearing your words
I'll...
Actually, I've no clue what I'm supposed to do. Try not to break until I get to chat to my computer friend ok? Cool.

I'm all for reading widely but sometimes it can be hard to explain how I'm trying to choose whether to start a book described as being about "the end of the world that reflects on the everyday inner despair of humanity" or a child celebrity memoir.

Nothing is a better demonstration of the anti-scientific nature of banning trans women from sports than the fact that the IOC's OWN STUDY found no evidence trans women have any advantage over cis women in sports, but they're planning on going ahead with banning us anyways

Right, anyone working in the games industry got a new job this week and want to show off about it?

I'm topping up this week's newsletter with job movers, so if you've got yourself a shiny new role and want to brag to 6000 people around the world lemme know 🫡

Can we all take a moment to appreciate that the advocacy group for promoting immersive media in Ireland is called Eirmersive?

What do you mean you don't get up early on a holiday to try to make sense of an email automation API? Have you even lived?

#aiandgames mission accomplished.
Look I'm a simple gal, you promise me a plushie you bet I'm gonna be there.
That said the conference was also good craic, even if I was bound to the expo hall and have to wait for the talks on YouTube.

I'm expecting a busy and mildly harrowing day today, so I've made sure to prep by getting in an early run and
*checks notes* cleaning the windows while listening a book on the evolution of Russian state orchestrated propaganda.

This, and while I'd say start with Mort (4th book) I think the main point everyone agrees on is don't start with The Color of Magic(1) or The Light Fantastic (2).

Pratchett was incomparable, but even he took a book or two to hit his stride.
If you're looking for a new book series to pick up try Discworld.
~40 books.

Most have 3 layers to them: serious social commentary on today's issues (gun reform, gender equality, racism) and parody as a glue, tongue in cheek stuff, and the in-world narrative, the plot.

Start on equal rights - 3rd
Rapidly going through the ~40 Discworld novels and an early one has this line, "welcome to [city] we have more pronouns here."

Pratchett wasn't just prolific; he was very ahead of his time.

Keep in mind, we got gay marriage barely more than 10 years ago, this book was more than 30 years ago.

I'm sure some people prep for events by looking at attendees lists and researching sessions. I personally prefer to dedicate my time to coming up with some truly awful topic specific jokes.

I figured I'd finally read The Fall of the House of Usher, but, not gonna lie, the first page of the collection has me immediately questioning the decision to read Poe. Or anything by the writer of the introduction for that matter.

Anyone feel like trekking around my run route from Saturday to see if they can find my gloves? I can't find them which means there's a 50% chance I dropped them.
I'd go but there's also a 50% chance they're just in a really dumb place in my house. So I have to stay here and search for a few hours.

I just found out that Glen Hansard played Outspan in The Commitments.
I ask that you respect my privacy in this trying time while I reassess my identity as a Dub.

I am proud to announce that today I successfully entered and exited a bookshop without buying any books!
I did buy stationery that I didn't need, and for some reason a jigsaw puzzle, but that's besides the point.

I hate this constant moving of goal posts. A while ago I saw middle age defined as starting at 35, but now I need to be at least 40 for a mid-life crisis? Sometimes I feel like I just can't win.

Look I'm happy there's an extension etc etc but, dare I say it, this is silly? Am I reading it wrong?
Expansion to post release content but only if the base game qualified for the original credit. There's currently low uptake because so few developers work qualifies for the original credit.

While I was excited to see improvements to the games tax credit teased in the pre-budget coverage, it's not enough to get me past the horror of being excited to see a budget announcement.
Gonna go stare into space and question my life choices for a few hours.
