Jeff Sessions was the first senator to endorse Trump. He also refused himself from the Russia investigation which led to the appointment of a Robert Mueller as special prosecutor!

We havent only come a long way since Reagan, we have come a long way from Trumps first term, categorically so.

And when they do this, a compliant press does not hold them accountable because they tacitly accept the fiction of conservatives as the Real Americans so "basket of deplorables" becomes a full-fledged scandal.

Republicans also have a willingness to attack and defame rank and file Democratic or left-coded groups of individuals in a way that Democrats are not. In this way it becomes easy for them to sell "The Democrat Party" as a monolith when the reality is the the inverse is true.

Silver changed. When he was just an elections forecaster he was fine. But he interpreted his success as a mandate to port his contrarianism into commentary and analysis.

My whole life I have heard disbelief that poor people could vote against their own economic self interest. I have only ever heard this from wealthy Democrats who vote to raise their own taxes, as though there is some income threshold above which basic voter behavior changes.

Here's something about upper middle class parents. The cost of being an upper middle class parent is all we talk about.

It does not affect who we vote for at all.

Political commentators, also largely upper middle class parents, assume it affects vote choice. Not their's of course. Other people.
