So, for all those who love the Finger Lakes: a b*tcoin miner plans to turn the old retired coal plant on Cayuga Lake (just north of Ithaca) into a hyperscale data center.

A bunch of us worked for years to shut down that coal plant—and won in 2019.

England is now experiencing a significant COVID wave, after 10 months of relative quiet.

"If someone says they are in bed with flu, it’s almost certainly COVID, given that the number of people admitted to hospital for COVID last week was 50 times higher than the number admitted for flu!"

The chart shows weekly hospital COVID admissions per 100,000 population in the UK from May 2023 to September 29, 2025, based on UKHSA data.

Autumn 2023 peak reached around 6 per 100k.

Winter JN.1 peak followed early 2024 (~5 per 100k).

Several 2024 peaks occurred mid-year before dropping.

A 10-month stretch of low, stable levels lasted through late 2024 to mid-2025.

A new Sept 2025 wave shows a sharp upward climb approaching prior peak levels.

The government oversold the benefits of the vaccines so you'd go back to normal and do all the maskless stuff that stimulates the economy. Vaccines don't stop you from getting Covid/ Long Covid, and Covid is nothing like the flu. The only way to stay safe right now is to wear a mask (N95/KN95).

then there are personalities/'influencers' working to shape public opinion who may or may not disclose

there's a lot of that spreading of the same talking points that's been pretty obvious during elections & notable events, like you can just copy & paste the text of a post in search & find it repeated verbatim across multiple 'just regular people' accounts
