“You could say it’s down 87% or you could say it’d have to go up by 700% to get back to that price.”

Sure.

What Trump said was that prices were being cut by 600%, not “prices are being cut such that they would need to go up 600% to return to the prior price.”
FOX: If you cut something by 100%, the cost goes down to 0. If you cut it by 600%, the drug companies are actually paying you

LUTNICK: What he's saying is if a drug was $100 and you bring it down to $13, it's down 7 times

F: Not a 600% cut

L: But it's 700% higher price before. It's down 700% now

By way of comparison, a total of 26 people died in ICE detention during the four years of the Biden administration.
Today I received FOUR death notifications for people in ICE custody. That's 30 deaths since Trump took office. It's appalling & unacceptable.

ICE is required—by law—to ensure detainees are safe & their basic needs are met. It's clear this isn't the case. We NEED answers.

Detention healthcare is big business. And there have been many, many lawsuits alleging that these companies cut corners to squeeze cents.

That’s not to say that all government-run facilities are great. Far from it. Legislatures also have an incentive to cut corners to make a budget work.

Of note: three major prison healthcare companies have gone bankrupt in recent years, each time letting them avoid having to pay out lawsuits against them for insufficient care. Yes, private equity is playing a role here too. These issues, bad as they are in ICE detention, are not unique.

Anyway, all four deaths which Congress was notified about today occurred in facilities run by a private prison company, where conditions are harsh and staffing is stretched thin. A proper investigation is necessary, but with oversight agencies slashed, I worry we won't get one.

ICE has its own Health Services Corps, which it operates in 17 large detention centers, but an increasingly large majority of people are held in private detention centers where the healthcare is operated by contractor or subcontractor, where ICE basically just manages the insurance claims.

I'm sorry: I'm glad the Brown shooter has been found, but watching law enforcement officials take a victory lap and praise each other feels kinda gross? Given how the FBI messed up by leaking the name of an innocent person and that a random 48-year-old guy avoided capture for days, no time to brag

BULLSHIT.

This is beyond absurd, totally illegal, and a disgrace to the memory and legacy of JFK.
