The rules-based order has given way to a vibes-based order. That's what those in flagrant breach would have us believe. I tried to unpack my many feelings about international law, accountability and isolationism. Grateful for essential perspective from Lavanya Rajamani & @sivathambisetty.bsky.social
💡 Spotlight | Carbon Brief unpacks what a landmark oceans treaty “entering into force” means and, at a time of backtracking and breach, speaks to experts on the future of international law.

For all our future focus, we have yet to address longstanding problems.

It baffles me that, rather than addressing them or exploring them more fully, many simply give up and turn to non-complex domains of study, lamenting or whining how they are more tractable.

I keep feeling pulled to get into the "masculinity" discussion and I probably will more ahead. A friend showed this to me, we talked about its recurrence.

There is a crisis of impunity. The Musk/Grok stuff is just one f many examples of people who are counting on there never being any consequences. And it all makes me just incandescently mad.

There's a disconcerting divergence between prediction accuracy and "explanation", broadly construed.

The coming generations are severely disinterested in the truth-as-partisan-point-scoring approach,

and interested in real solutions to real problems, rather than empty clout and over-hyped silver bullets.

It's happening now, in the ashes of what 2025 has offered.

It's remarkable how much #slop there is about so many things now. Trying to find legitimate reviews on products is a new level of strife.

I'm somewhat glad I've left the #HealthTech space proper for this reason, as the abundance of slop and prospecting future tech sounds incredibly tedious.
