Tyranny requires your fear, your silence and your compliance. Democracy requires your courage. So gather your justice and humanity, do not let the tragic spirit of despair overcome us when our country needs us the most. JB Pritzker (Illinois Gov.)

That’s not just for the US

This is how it's done. Nazis should be scared to be out in public. Don't give them an inch.
In the US city of Cincinnati in Ohio, armed Nazis decided to hang flags over an overpass, they were promptly removed by locals who chased them away and burned the Nazi flags. The police tried to protect the Nazis.

Shoutout to everyone on TikTok who called me a fearmonger before the election. While others pushed you back to Instagram, I was trying to help you prepare for what was coming.

Far right accounts will be hunting for people on social to post about and being attention to so they get their documents revoked. Far right accounts like libs of tiktok are essentially private stasi on the payroll of the oligarchs.
If you happen to renew your passport successfully and manage to change your gender marker, please for the love of god don't post about it online.

The most powerful words you can say right now to these fascist bastards is:

"No, make me."

They cannot actually be everywhere and enforce their fascist policies. They rely on fear to do the job of governing for them. By refusing to comply, you make their means of compliance ineffective.

Listening to a press call with @aclu.org and @lambdalegal.bsky.social right now, and the big takeaway: The trans executive order is not immediately enforceable. As federal agencies try to make rules enforcing this order, ACLU and Lambda plan to sue based on the rules, ways those rules are made, etc

TLDR: There is nothing enforceable for the immediate future. It will take months or years to implement this via rulemaking or bureaucratic changes which are then subject to legal challenge. While it's worrying, there's no immediate change yet for most trans people. Do not comply in advance.

These executive orders on banning federally funded entities from recognizing trans people or disallowing them from using the bathroom are not self-executing or immediately enforceable. They require formal rule making at a minimum. They are a scare tactic. Ignore and do not comply in advance.

The thing about Twitter versus Bluesky is that the right needs liberals on Twitter to make it feel worthwhile, whereas the left doesn’t need conservatives on Bluesky to make it feel worthwhile.

California just confirmed its first case of MPOX. In 65 days, a man who doesn’t believe in vaccines will be leading the country’s health policy. I’m exhausted by living in such ‘interesting times.’

First, Elon buys Twitter and turns it into a right-wing playground. Then, non-MAGA, non-white nationalist users migrate to Bluesky in large numbers. Now, pundits who somehow overlooked Twitter’s transformation ask, “Is Bluesky an echo chamber?”
