The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition
Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

Salonen asks Foxton about whether it was an error or if she changed her mind. "I'm staying with my original vote," Foxton says. I think she's referring to committee but didn't she vote against it there, too? Now, I'm even getting confused! bsky.app/profile/dtkm...
The last item is the police capital budget, which includes the $173 million communications centre. And, believe it or not, it doesn't pass. It's an 8-7 vote with the following councillors opposed to approving the capital budget: Vrbanovic, Foxton, Rodrigues, Salonen, James, Huinink, Gowing, Liggett.

I'm slightly heartened to see #WRcouncil question the value of a $173 million communications centre, including a motion to reject the capital budget in its current form.
However, I'm also concerned that we'll lose focus on the $20 million increase to the operating budget for WRPS.
Well, look at this. We have a #WRcouncil motion to reject the current version of the WRPS capital budget and it comes from (somewhat surprisingly) Mayor Vrbanovic! pub-regionofwaterloo.escribemeetings.com/Meeting.aspx...
