History orgs are circling up. Teachers, remember that you have many allies outside the classroom. Our job is to show love and insist on good history, so that you can do the same. @historyed.bsky.social @socialstudies.org @historians.org @oah.org
My colleagues at other history organizations have been speaking powerfully to the K-12 EO, so @historyed.bsky.social is speaking directly to teachers. I know this moment is heavy, teachers. We’re here beside you. ncheteach.org/blog/uncateg...

Hello teachers. I’m reaching out today as a fellow educator and historian, and as Executive Director of the National Council for History Education, to affirm […]

Ike and I had a very good conversation about leadership integrity, emphasized by his handwritten “in case of failure” letter. He knew, on the eve of D-Day, that the burden of responsibility was his. As always, our present has much to learn from the past.
I’m grateful for this partnership with Kansas teachers. It filled my heart to be with these folks, to reassure them that they are professionals, and that teaching history is often messy — which means they’re doing it right.
Thank you to our gracious hosts at Haskell Indian Nations University!
Thank you for a wonderful day of PD, @historyed.bsky.social , @jessellison.bsky.social , and Rachel Swearengin! #KSHGSS
I feel like I’m in the scene from the first HP, when Harry, Ron, and Hermione find themselves in a room with a thousand giant metal keys rocketing at them from all directions and at various levels of lethality. Except what if the keys were the government.
My colleagues at @historians.org released this report last fall, and it’s worth a read and a share. History teachers are teaching history about ALL Americans, with evidence and primary sources. Trust them as the professionals they are.
The AHA's American Lesson Plan report shares findings from the most comprehensive study of secondary US history education undertaken in the 21st century. Key takeaways include: history teachers are professionals who are concerned mostly with helping students learn central elements of US history. 🗃️

We fall under slide 2, Department of Education. Our grants are reimbursement-based, so we cannot access funding until we’ve already spent it. This pause would limit our ability to pay bills, including salaries and costs for in-process programs.
If this is true, and goes into effect tomorrow, it will pause the federal funds that support my nonprofit and hundreds of other organizations. Call your elected officials. This will be devastating.
White House pauses all federal grants, sparking confusion
The Trump administration has put a hold on all federal financial grants and loans, affecting tens of billions of dollars in payments.

This introvert peopled HARD at @ncssnetwork.bsky.social in Boston this week. Luckily, I had some of the incredible @historyed.bsky.social staff to help greet our social studies friends from far and wide. #historymatters #historyhugs
Are you kidding?! You were one of the first ones I added! #fangirl
On your account’s home page, right underneath your bio, you’ll see Posts Replies etc. Scroll to the right and you’ll see Starter Pack. Instructions are pretty simple once you click on that!
Added! Thank you. See you in Boston!
Oh, you’re already there! 😎 See you this week at NCSS!
I attempted a Starter Pack! I’ve seen several of these for the education world, but the folks who teach K-12 history teachers need to lift each other up — it’s just going to get harder to insist on good history. Let me know if you want me to add someone! #edusky #sschat

Headed to Boston this week for @ncssnetwork.bsky.social to exhibit with my amazing @historyed.bsky.social colleagues! I need a great big social studies hug. Anyone else need some love from their people in this exhausting historical moment? #edusky #historyhugs
Sitting at the Wichita airport, waiting for my delayed flight home, and watching "Stranger Things" to keep me from doomscrolling. Among other things, the depiction of the 1980s is perfection. Cannot wait for season 5. #historyiseverywhere #strangerthings
I love pockets as teaching tools. Also, I love this poem from a 1915 suffrage pamphlet, "Are Women People?": Why We Oppose Pockets for Women. For your reading pleasure, history friends! www.loc.gov/resource/rbn...
In my professional life, my efforts are focused on a single (albeit diverse) community: history teachers. I am with you and will love you all up, while we insist upon good history together. #historywillsavetheworld
NCHE is here to champion, support, and uplift you, now and always. Post-election periods are emotionally taxing, and we see your resilience and dedication.

Know that we’re here for you, every step of the way. Sending love and solidarity for all you do. ❤️
