🎉🥂🤩
I took first place in Royal City Literary Arts Society's writing contest for my story "The Homewrecker".

"This is a powerful multilayered tale of a house personified as the black-hearted other woman..."

Many thanks to the judges who had the tough task of reading many amazing entries.

Write in the morning, a break for a hot cuppa, maybe a walk, more writing, finish with a hot bath and reading

Rinse and repeat 😍

Sounds idyllic, but revising a book takes a ton of mental energy and it can be exhausting.

(BTW, not my bathtub but that's me in it. One of my retreat locations)

I began my writing career in a tree.... literally. When I visited my great-grandmother's farm, I would climb up into a tree in her yard (I think it was a big old oak), curl up in its bough, and write poetry.

First time holding the physical manifestation of my first novel, my blood, sweat and tears.

There are no words...😍

Spent the day cleaning the desk, preparing for edits, and scribbling Act 1 outline on my whiteboard -

- now I'm diving into my favorite seasonal read 🎃🍂

I just penned "The End" on my second book this year 🤩🤩

A humorous collection of essays on my childhood.

First up this fall, edits and revisions on my domestic suspense novel I completed this summer.

Continuing on with my spooky season reads - next up, this deliciously wicked graphic novel...
Cover of the graphic novel Agnes Murderess. Title in black letters in a red circle, black trees on a white background and a woman standing amid them. Page one of the novel. Part 1: The Knife written in white on a black page.

Welcome Mabon 🍂 The harvest season is here. Time to sit with the year, and sweep 🧹 away the things that no longer serve, a time to sow the seeds of transition, to look into the depths of the cool misty mornings and embrace what is looming beyond the glow of the harvest moon.

Morning bliss - with Charlotte 🕷️ - our current spider resident.

Coffee on the deck in the morning is the best way to begin my #writing day. I think about the words with the soundtrack of birds. The fresh air of a new season kisses my skin. I sit with the sunflowers and breathe in gratitude ❤️

I'm thrilled to be part of Noir at the Bar in October alongside other fabulous authors. I will be reading an excerpt from the first draft of my novel.

Come join us for an evening of crime, suspense and gritty stories. Perfect for a dark October night.

Today I'm writing with the fans on, the windows closed and the air filter on high.

It's a very smokey day outside. Stay safe everyone.

The bookshop field trip continues with Vancouver's first romance bookshop Perfect Match ❤️

It's not my usual , but I'm always curious to explore different genres.

The shop is charming, so drop by to explore and support this local business, and the writers who put their heart and soul on the page.

No, I'm using Knitted Nettle by Ferris Wheel Press. Not seen in this photo, but the ink has the same sheen as the pen. But I'm going to check out Dragon's Blood ink ☺️

The Dragon's Blood fountain pen. The perfect pen for late summer writing.

The days are hot, like the dragon's breath but the evenings are cool, like the dragon's skin. Words flow like the wind through a dragon's wings.
The Dragon's Blood fountain pen sits in the crook of a notebook - it's a shimmery color of deep green and red.
