Retired but still interested in cybersecurity and risk management. Ménière’s disease for 15+ years, meaning progressive hearing loss and mobility issues. Rumored sense of humor, depending on whom you ask.
When the coauthors of math textbooks digress, they go off on cotangents. #mathjoke

I try to be up front about my hearing difficulties. Sometimes I know what you're saying. Sometimes I can piece it together with enough context. When I'm not sure, I can echo back what I think I heard. Or I say, "I have terrible hearing, so I have no idea what you just said." #HearingLossAwareness

If acrophobia is a fear of heights, is agoraphobia a fear of widths? #OneLinerJokes

Why did the chicken cross the road?
To see the silly person.

Knock, knock.
Who's there?
The chicken.

Hearing loss isn't just a difficulty in hearing sounds. It's also a difficulty in knowing what I'm hearing and where it's coming from. I might hear your voice but struggle to know what you're saying. #HearingLossAwareness

Ménière’s disease causes intermittent vertigo and balance issues, so sometimes I use a cane or a rollator to get around. 𝑆𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒𝑠. If I'm not using a mobility aid, it doesn't mean I'm cured. I just don't need it or have it right then. #menieresdisease #vertigo

AncestryDNA Traits feature: They predict various personal and physical traits based on your DNA test. Of the traits I could vouch for, they got less than half right. Either their data needs improvement, or many of these traits are too multifaceted for a tool like this. #AncestryDNA

#MenieresDisease This past Saturday, I had to miss out on yet another outing, thanks to Ménière's disease. The clearest indications that I need to back out of plans are when there's active vertigo (the room spinning, not just a few moments of dizziness) and loss of eye control (nystagmus). (1/5)

Someone asked what one's biggest fear was before getting a cochlear implant. My biggest worry was that it was a one-way trip. There's no going back. You can't try before you buy. You can't be sure how much it will help or how well you'll adapt. It's both a gamble and a commitment. #CochlearImplant

"Isle of the Dead" (1945) — not to be confused with Isle of Lucy ;-) — features Boris Karloff in a non-horror role unless you count the curly hair he wears or the mentions of vorvolakas. It's an atmospheric movie inspired by a painting of the same name, so score points for creativity. #ClassicMovies
