I feel like "Free gravel for life" as a joke pill badly underestimates the number of industries that regularly purchase gravel. If it's unlimited and you can control the grade/texture/other characteristics? Ooh baby, that's one hell of a business you've got there.

This is why I think the "we made this race too famous" stuff is nonsense: Republicans had internal polling. They knew this was coming down to the wire. They were always going to flood the zone and tie Behn to the nat'l Dems as much as they could. Her being popular on Bluesky didn't change that.
Again, there’s no way to avoid this, if the Dems were afraid of losing a D+20 seat, they’d start pouring ads in too.

Look, you can't always control how people pronounce your name, and there's lots of perfectly legitimate reasons not to want to change away from a potentially-embarrassing-but-personally-meaningful family name. But nobody and nothing on this Earth is forcing you to include your middle initial.

Of course Summers only apologizes for (or even acknowledges) his "communications" with Epstein. Nothing about his actual, real-life behavior towards an econ colleague and former Harvard student. I know firing a professor of his stature/tenure is difficult, but doing the right thing often is.
