… because he’s the avatar of how they want to be, living without consequences, especially when it comes to treating others harshly. It’s turtles all the way down, and if we don’t budge when it comes to demanding civil treatment from strangers online, than we’ll soon just get another Trump. (2/2)

I can no longer keep track of who I’m responding to (and I’m not going to start a spreadsheet when it’s not a workday), so I’m bowing out here.

But not before pointing out this thread, for me, epitomizes a transition point in America. Last fall, millions re-elected the Internet Troll-in-Chief (1/2)

“Pretending you didn’t understand” — nope, assuming understanding of another person’s interior experience is another Internet troll move.

“Glad you picked up on that” — that is not something I said or indicated.

Speaking for the thoughts and emotions of others that have not been self-identified by them is another Internet troll move.

Ad hominem insults are also a trait of internet trolls

Thank you for responding to my original question. But who finds hit and run drivers who have escaped in the dark? And, more importantly, how is it determined the right person has been found?

You also answered my question with more questions.

You also answered my question with a question, after supplanting my anecdote with one of your own.

“Or seeking clarity” what?

Sentence fragments are confusing in a long thread.

I am serious - and I don’t need to swear at strangers to make myself heard.

I find responding to someone’s question with another question to be an internet troll move.

Around the corner from me, a hit and run driver ran over the foot of a guy wearing a high-vis vest and killed his dog. How would that driver be found and held to consequences (so they don’t do that again, or worse) without police?
jimburlingame.bsky.social
Ooh that lil guy is creepy. Reminds me of the last shot of The Blair Witch Project 😬

Time for a few. A few small beers.

Yup. Although “hate” is a dubious big jump from unsympathetic/disapprove of. But ok, you do you.

Huh? This “peace” plan of Trump’s is giving Hamas exactly what they wanted two years ago: Palestinians out of Israeli prisons and the occupiers off their land. So 🤷‍♂️

At least he’s hallucinating that it’s still the 90s out there, fashion wise. (**Pours one out for the decade when I had blue hair**)

Like a Manchurian candidate powered by a lethal dose of Viagra

You know who’s also “pro-Hamas”? Trump.

His “peace” plan is simply what Hamas wanted two years ago: their people returned from Israeli prisons and the occupiers off their land.

The right has always been better at twisting words to their own pejorative use in the public narrative than the left has been at keeping concepts and intentions simple and clear. George Lakoff warned Democrats about their disconnect with framing the narrative decades ago, but they didn’t listen.

I guess? I always get in the left lane as soon as I see a merge sign a block away, just to get it taken care of.
jimburlingame.bsky.social
… the drivers on the left would all need to leave a car length open between each other (not just when there ARE cars visible to the right, but also when there aren’t, because cars could appear in the closing lane at any time). I’m an anxious, precipitous rule follower, so I merge fast 😅 (2/2)

Gonna stick my neck out here and say I can’t stand the push for zipper merges, because (and I think this dovetails with what you’re talking about) it looks good in an animation, but doesn’t match the reality of how people approach freeways: bumper to bumper. For a zipper merge to work… (1/2)

Also, it’s funny how Trump’s peace “accomplishment” is simply exactly what Hamas wanted to accomplish two years ago: their people held in prison in Israel released and the occupying forces out of their land.
